Jackie, did you know Mike Hall at Cosworth??.........Phill.
I'm still here jackie.....just readin and lauphin! Oh and waitin for more "piccies". Gary
Yippee ! , ! There is life out there after all-------was beginning to think everyone had jumped off the edge into the abyss ------left me all on my own talking to myself.
Just for that alone, i
ll post some piccies, Gary, could be anything -------maybe the latest "Progress" ------MURPHY-----Jilly in Jamaica-------a bunch of daffs------have not stooped so low I have to take "SELFIES" ------lowest form of photography-------mainly for morons and halfwits.
Asked my son Mark if he wanted one of the COSWORTHS or a Spitfire or maybe one of the many motors I made------he said no. Was a bit put out, some of them make nice desk pieces!
He then said " l would like you to do a model of my boat " ----told him I didn't do models, only concepts and if that was ok I'd do it.
You have to know my son to realise he doesn't do short cuts or second best, so, ( reason it took him five years to build a boat) he kinda put me in a funny position, between a rock and a hard place.
Now you know why the latest "Concept" has to be just about right and why it's taking so long, I just can't cock this one up.
Reason there's been no piccies------even the trailer has been altered dozens of times to make sure it's right ------still haven't made up my mind on the hull, it's wooden at the moment------may paint it or metal clad it !
The deck and top sides, Bimini and radar are in polished metal with copper cladding on the focastle.
Its light years away-----I haven't even begun the drives------I do have the props and trims, but I have a bench full of throwaways .
Will see how it looks in the light of day-----that's why it had to be right, it's for my son ! the one I still have.

there you go Gary-----Murphy -----Spring has sprung-------a few daffs etc:
Jilly on a beach somewhere------just off to Brighton for lunch.
Thanks jackie......thats a great way to start my day! I can't wait for spring. Gary
Just leaves Mike Costain and Bill Brown of the originals !
Keep in touch with Ian Hawkins and very occasionally Malcolm Tyrrel.
Wonder if Gloria (receptionist) and Jack Fielder are still alive and well?
Had lunch in the Brighton Marina (Chez Rouge) . Very nice.
Managed a last half hour in the shop------cobbled up the fishing chair!

Thats the bare hull of the project, nice grain flowing right through it complete with too many vicious bloody knots, didn't think it would ever come out right so I gave it three coats of paint.
Trouble is, temperature is around freezing, and my shop only has a titchy 3 bar electric heater which just stops the ice forming on my coffee but is of little help when painting a project.
Cant wait until June for it to warm up!
Just stitched it all together to give you a "Progress Piccie " Gary, long way from being anywhere near ready, but I have ambition. ,
Big thank you to Mark RAthmell, much appreciated, cheque arrived today.
You should send the little sprint Molli to John Schubert for finishing, he makes a far better job of detailing than me.
Its two years ago today since I started the "TRICKS" thread. Often wondered if it was worth continuing, or if it had run its full course, and I should pull up the drawbridge and just stick to fartarseing around in the shop. I'm sure when I ramble on too much, my friends from the Old Farts
forever club will tell me it's time to pull the plug.
Keep the thread going as long as you feel like doing it. I have been silent for awhile but I check in daily to see what you've been making.
Jackie your thread is the first I read with a cup of coffee when I crawl out of bed( I do mean crawl) before I meet my construction crew and start the day. Been with ya for the 2 years and have enjoyed every post and have also learned a lot. I agree with Dave and keep going a long as it feels good! You can rest asured we will be watchin. Gary
Thats really all I want Gary, a little bit of reassurance that I'm not just talking bollocks.
Stuff I make is for my own satisfaction, mostly for friends, sometimes I do it just for the hell of it and because I can. Sometimes I get rewarded and sometimes over rewarded for the concepts.
One thing for sure, I made an awful lot of friends since young Tipedeaux introduced me to the site.
Renewed some old acquaintances, but in general, I have a lot of fun here on site.
Hells teeth, I even know the admin man.
Wonder if he'll come to Tavares in the fall ?
I got three straight days without interruption to crack on with Marks boat and trailer-----just when I think I'm heading for a conclusion, something else crops up------like the spotlights on the cabin roof-----the fish chair-----spare wheels for the trailer-----the green felt for the support-----the jockey wheel-----the docking guide arms -------haven't even started on the transmission .
No hurry, I'll get there eventually. Whether or not it's acceptable remains to be seen, that's one of the reasons it has to be a bit special-------it's for my son, so I'm taking my time.
Can't take too much time, I got other projects planned------even got a "Commision" which is a rare thing indeed.
Rambled long enough, let's take the morning and wring its neck, see what it tastes like, talk to you lunch time. J.
I think you should build a model of the tower at Lake X
