Just occasionally, as I fernagle concepts regularly———- right from the first manifestations—-you instinctively know it’s right—- it FEELS RIGHT.
Today I thought I might put together “DRY MARTINI” —— it’s a boat I always associate with Richie Powers——- so Yesterday I started putting it together——- as it came to life, I knew I’d nailed it!
Only piece of timber I had that FELT right was an old oak fence post ,
If you’ve ever seen pictures of Dry Martini, it’s always the same classic shot—3 feet above the water and angled upward——- white, with the classic martini stripes—— and the kids handwriting scrawl for the name, which always put me off previously.
Ill figure out that particular problem when it comes——- boat actually looks better than the original——
reckon I owe Richie this one——— he did my engine for Havasu 1970— So we’ve been friends for nigh on 50 years. Just a pity I never gave the motor the result it deserved.
I stuck a coat of primer and a couple of layers of white——— cobbled the screen and drives—— and took a couple of snaps on the iPhone which have not transferred to my iPad yet! If they turn up. Overnight, I’ll post em.

Thats the lump of oak fence post in the raw before it was touched——Second is with a couple of coats of white primer.
Worked out how to do the base so the boats at the correct angle ( like in all the pictures).
Vital that I get the colour combination spot on or the whole concept will fall flat on its face !

This is a project I’ve been working on for the last couple of years—- ever since I went to BONHAMS auction at Goodwood festival of speed——— been collecting damaged classic cars for a couple of years and finally have enough to construct “ BONHAMS BARN FINDS”.
Dust and debris came naturally from just. Being kept in the shop.
Only way I could show all the cars was to do a series of pictures—- yeah, I know—- I’m a crap photographer !
Oh yes—— the spitfire came out of the scrap brass bin at the RECYCLING FACILITY,!
Cars don’t do well on this thread—— specially classics—-

From my understanding of it, just the canopy has been added....and the 300Rs of course. Maybe Jackie has more info.
