Lars, Watermark (Mark Rotharmel) was one of the hosts on PowerBoat Television for about 20 years and I believe started on episode #1 back in about 1990. I was lucky enough to work on PowerBoat Television as well for about 5 years and worked and travelled with Mark many many times.
Great times !!!!
Very cool! "Hand made gears" on the counter rotation motor. That must have been really tedious with helical cut gears! :D

The owner was a lawyer in Texas.

Bill Grannis is part of our FaceBook page Evinrude - Johnson outboards. Facts, history, racing and OMC.
He knows OMC history like nobody else.
Thanks for helping me out.

Found this digging through old boxes in the back of a closet. The 70s were not the best for fashion and hair styles.
I missed getting Johnson technician of the year by 1 point. The winner and I had to go through 2 different tie-breaker tests because we were so close in all the judging categories.

Fountain Powerboats.
Noah Cooper purchased this 1986 31CC cuddy with twin 3.6 V8 Evinrude with second effort gear cases.
The boat was featured on all the magazine covers for Clayton Kirby fishing tournaments and also appeared in Evinrude magazine ads. Noah recalls running his boat on Cape Cod and nothing could keep up!

An old video from Paris 6 Hours 1972..I think it is..The video text says 1970 but I see Evinrude V4 Super Strangler & Johnson Stinger GP in the race.
My first Paris 6 hour experience was 1973.
Here is a link to that..https://svera.se/blogg/paris-6-hours...as-a-disaster/

Lars,
The 1970 video of the Paris 6 hr is actually a mix of 1970 & 1972. The yellow Molinari with the Hohnson V-4 was driven by Sanders & Posey for the win. The 42 Molinari was Renato & Wilson finishing 2nd. The high rider number 14 was Hill & myself. There were a good number of Hi riders & plain V-4's, but there were quite a few Scotti's with Super Stranglers & Stinger GT's. The Scottis n& the Super Strangler/Stinger GT's were not until 1972. It was a combination of 1970 & 1972 plus maybe some 1971, but I didn't see my boat # 16 which we lead into the 5th hour only to blow up.
Thanks John,
Yes I see..you are correct. Its a mix of 1970 & 1972..Maybe some 1971 also.
This is for sure Jimbo's #15 ON boat in Paris 1970 from the video. (First picture). The second is from OMC, Belgium before the race.

Yes, saw that but didn't comment. Ron Hill & I were also testing in Brugge, actually there is a clip somewhere with me making "Jack LEEK" fly bys. Hated doing that there as there was always considerable Lift. Jimbo's boat was designed by Jack & built by MacDonald. He was running up near the front but nose dived & per his quote, seemed like he went straight to the bottom.
When did OMC start using Pickle forks? I see some in the video with OMC on the back.
I don't have the answer Rotary John..My first Paris was 1973.
This ugly green Cougar was a big time Pickle fork in Paris 1970..but he crashed out pretty bad. Not a good design.
