Its not that great really Pilgrim——- next one will be——- that’s if I ever get my arse in gear and get down to doing one!
Dentist again this morning ——-Lovely lady—— but I just don’t like dentists!

Jackie re. the screen.....The method is- first of all to do a card template from an old CornFlake box or similar, if it takes more that one piece then glue them together and allow the glue to dry before moving on the next bit....When you are happy with final shape lay it out on a big enough sheet of something like acetate sheet of suitable scale thickness and cover to area to be trimmed with masking tape...Lay the completed template on the taped area and pencil around the outside including any bending angles.....Cut around with a decent pair of Jilly's kitchen scissors...... Have you understood so far????........Model making requires patience and understanding a bit like undoing yer first bra strap..................!
Just maybe——- you might begin to understand why I don’t do “MODELS” ?
By now Phill, you will have seen the Donzi 44 and the three into one screen——- if you’re that smart—— why not have a crack at it ?
Let me know how you get on !
Was clean up time yesterday—— replaced the bandsaw blade with a new very expensive carbon six toother——— changed all the discs and sanding belts—— chucked out one of my favourite angle grinders, ( faulty switch proved impossible to replace) !
Need to empty the bins, sweep the floor and sharpen the lathe tooling—— took all the scrap alloy to the yard——- ten kilos——- enough to pay for a stack of new material !
Im having a purge before I start anything new——— tired of disappearing up my own arse—— maybe I should slow the rig down ——- step off and smell the roses once in a while.
Still beavering away in the shop—— trying to get the place back to how it used to be before the mad fitsof depression.
Cannot believe how much needs doing —— and how long it’s taking me !
No doubt about it —— time has taken its toll, even though time has been kind ——- weariness and intolerance creeps in——- do not suffer fools gladly——— and still tell the majority——- sex and travel is the only way to go.
Have no idea how the Miami Boat Show went for the Wilsons——- saw a couple of items on Facebook, but that’s all I’ve seen or heard.
Should be back in the saddle next week——- have a couple of outrageous ideas skulling about among the little grey cells.
Did .the car boot this morning——- that was next door to a waste of time——- same old crap—— different day!
Thought I might try to get BONHAMS, the auction house, which sells off very expensive historic vehicles, for ridiculously excessive amounts of money in a one off “CONCEPT”.
Had the idea bubbling around in my brain for a day or two——- do have a few old “BARN FIND” cars (models of course ) kicking around the shop, cluttering the place up.
Let you know what transpires !

Her majesty decided she’s she’s having a loft purge——— “go through this box——- I’m throwing out everything you don’t want to keep” ! Ultimatum!
Was horrified to see this was a box that hadn’t seen the light of day for over twenty five years!
I knew I had ROLLS ROYCE SILVER GHOST BY THE FRANKLIN MINT somewhere, but damned if I could recall where it was !
Then spent the rest of the day in LA-LA LAND———- remembering a time I thought would never end.

My mechanic and best friend CHAS SHOOTER—— was with me for ever——- right up to the time of the Cosworth DFV.
He went on to look after Bob And Tom in the V8 F1 series with Hodges.
A wonderful man and a great friend as well as a genius mechanic!

Thes were trophies given out at most club races in the 60/70’s——- even extended as far as Germany !
Didnt they used to have those hideous four poster plastic rhingies in America ?

Thats the paper Jorge owned——— was a going concern when I saw it——- he gave us a tour of the plant——- impressive !
Was a beautiful modern Concept of a university——— what vision and foresight Bondi had——- must have been devastating to win the America’s Cup the first time ever, and then lose your dream university to the Japs in the next breath!
Surely it doesn’t matter a damn whether a uni is public or private——— a degree’s a degree in any language —- or is it ?
Attachment 431804Attachment 431805
This one was clear varnished Obeche———- beautiful looking boat with an adjustable wing on the front earlier. Spent more time goofing about with the damn thing than concentrating on driving.
Boat ran around the 100 mark and was good enough to beat the outboards of that time, once I’d cured the water swallowing problem !
no its not as who validates it, to what standard is it?
Saying that as govs both UK and OZ govs have squeezed the money so the uni's have to survive with foreign students who all think if I pay I get, so they do.
99% of exams converted to submitted papers so you just pay somebody to do them then you pass your degree.
When I was working in that investment bank in the UK I asked HR about it, they said we throw 50% of the UK cv's in the bin depending on the uni, ouch.
I hear from mates in OZ they put the foreign students into separate campuses, hence 2 tier degrees and business knows this.
UK gov also tried to clamp down on private uni's have left just 2 I think as they are religious ones
OZ and UK and 99% of other countries the gov owns the term university.
A degree today not worth one from the old days, when you meet young people today with degrees you can see
Well, her majesty decided I was in urgent need of a bit of religious culture, so we took a trip to CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL.
Thought I knew most things about cathedrals in the Uk——— turns out I knew very little about CANTERBURY——- first Archbishop was Augustine in 597 ad——- getting on for a couple of thousand years previous!
Yes I’m a Christian—— I go to church for weddings—- christenings—- funerals and if I’m in need of Gods assistance——- but that’s about it. I don’t push my beliefs on anyone so whilst I’m not a fanatical church goer ——- I m a believer but not to excess.
So, I was pleasantly surprised to find out just how much I enjoyed the cathedral.
To all my colonial friends, I will say——— if you ever get the opportunity to visit CATERBURY CATHEDRAL——- just do it, you will never regret it.
i have loads of piccies, but I’m hesitant to post them here on S&F—— I don’t need t get into a religious fight with anyone.
Should you want to see them, give me a shout !
Jackie, you will recall that Alf was living in Canterbury during the '80's. In late 1984, as the sole Canadian running on the V8 circuit, I was matched with Andy and Team Bullen/Burgess for the '85 Pro One Series. A week or so before the first race of the season (Munich), I flew to London, stayed with Andy and his family at their home in Herne Bay, then worked on the boats over at Alf's place in the country. I must say, the Bullens - all of them, including their close friends/team members - were wonderful hosts, genuinely fun to be with, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there - which included a day's visit to Canterbury Cathedral! It is truly magnificent, as you know.
I would love to see some of your photos, so please post a few (or PM me if you prefer).
Cheers,
Mark
Whoa—— we’d better slow down that particular racehorse Mark——— Problem here is, you need a couple of volumes if you want to talk about Alfie and the Bullen’s——- the legend—— the myth—— the antics he got up to !!!
Without a doubt the most lovable rogue on this side of the pond——— ranked alongside MORALES AND KRAMER.
I will need time, and sit down and think how best to answer this !
I will post some piccies of the cathedral——- it’s an awesome place—— home Of English religion——along with Westminster———- as important to an Englishman as the Vatican to an Italian.
Although I try to steer clear of religion —- once I get into it, I realise just how passionate I am about it, so I have to tread lightly to begin with.
Heres a few to be going on with—— if you want to see more, I have a bunch of them, just let me know!
They were all the right way up when I posted them —— honest !
And there’s more. ,Attachment 431943Attachment 431944Attachment 431945Attachment 431946Attachment 431947
nobody complained———- shall I do “LASSE”—— dozens of piccies about the same thing ?
Seems to be ok—— nobody said anything ! You Attachment 431949Attachment 431950Attachment 431951Attachment 431952Attachment 431953Attachment 431954Attachment 431955Attachment 431956Attachment 431956Attachment 431957
In case anyone wondering what all the piccies are ——— it’s canter Cathedral!
I remember them well but not fondly. Action Marine's predecessor Banshee built a number of them and I drove a couple of them. they were very inefficient. It took a 455ci v8 to push one as fast as we were running with a 99ci Mercury on the same hull. Steering power on was vague and non existent off throttle. There is a series running those big inch jet boats. They run them in winding shallow ditches against the clock. Full roll cages cause they don't always stay in the ditch.[QIOTE=jackiewilson;3114628]Attachment 431747

was at long beach California in ‘71 when these were handed out—— I remember it well——- Gabbelich had just been the first man ever to break 200 mph .
Kathy Flo Smith was timekeeper——- Gabbelich took his helmet off in celebration—— Kathy declared the run null and void———- SH-T hits the fan !!!! MEMORABLE ,!!!!

My Grandson “ Ratbag” Gary Stray—— the ramrod at Geico—— just put over a thousand hours perfecting this scale model of MISS GEICO.
Its heading for the Smithsonian Museum !
Now I don’t feel too bad for taking anything from a week to a month making one of my “Concepts”.

Ok Mark—— I think that’s enough piccies for this week——- hope it brought back memories of your stay with the Bullen’s !
I saw Andy and Kevin back end of last year——- was for a photo shoot with Roy for the Speed on water thingie ?
Made Roy a trophy for the sailing club up there———— bastard when it’s only “the sailing clubs” that want one of my concepts !

Lukater—-Lukater——- LUKATER ——- LUKATER. Oooowwwbeeeee—-
You ain’t heard nothin yet Johnno
Bloody media wuz always gettin us mixed up——-Damned fools ——- I had a crew cut ! And could imitate Louis Armstrong far better than he!
,!!!! How could there ever be a mix up ?
Got stuck into four 400R’s ——- got an idea for a Quickie poker run tunnel with a capsule and a wing—— all a bit imaginatical—— you know what I’m like once I get more than two consecutive thoughts !
Picked up some great old hardwood timber——— at least a dozen monos and ten tunnels worth.
Should keep me going till Key West.
Glad you enjoyed them Mark——always happy to oblige —- I certainly enjoyed my day in Canterbury!
Its been another of those head down and arse up sort of days.
My Problem is—— I start a project—— get it under way and see ways I can improve the original considerably——- consequently—- I find— if I’d thought of it earlier, life could have been a lot easier !
So, I did a tunnel—— then decided to make it in carbon—— then attach a wing—— Then a capsule with a Bimini top—— just how bloody stupid is that !?
Theres got to be easier ways of making a living .
Good day yesterday—— made progress with the impossible——- don’t often get to do that——- stood back two paces —— couldn’t believe I’d had any part in that !
Was a time when I couldn’t hide the fixings, now I’m getting good at it——- must be practice I suppose.
nearly ready for putting the finishing touches to the Goodwood 2025 BONHAMS Barn Finds effort—— looking good—— found an all metal Schuco Bugatti Royale 1930/s at the car boot—— just need a Maser or a Bentley of around the same era to top off the whole thing——- steadily getting there!
Attachment 432279
Theres this kid at the car boot sale———- spends most of his time digging up old tree roots———— usually sells four or five of them ——- twice a week———- around £20/30 a pop.
Head Gardener here loves em—— she has a few dotted around the premises——- plus, I get a few brownie points ——- and time off for good behaviour?Attachment 432280
So—— stand on your head, you’ll get a better perspective!
Canterbury Cathedral start in the year 868 burial place of the Black Knight or Prince. Very amazing place to stand in. Know that is history.
