There were only ever three or four Konig E class outfits, Dave Minty, Dougie Bruce and Terry Knowles bought my rig, if it kept going it could run with the OI Class------Robin Torrence, Peter Inward and Bob Stevens Shared another, I would put money on 37 being Dougie Bruce.
Weir Jumper was Albert ?.????------he actually did go over the weir at Charlie Sheppards place while testing the boat-----blind as a bat and wore glasses full time.
Mike Ward may be able to help you on the OI boat, I can't bring it to mind? Like I told you before Phill----the memories shot.
Just as a PS to this tale, Don and I were 50/50 partners in the yellow Molinari, I sold him my share the night before the race. Had managed a factory sponsored ride from GG but couldn't get a ride for Don. Drove a 16' Levi in the race----didn't get into the top 20 finishers, swore on a stack of bibles never to race another V bottom boat-------never did. Nightsie, MYGGWY. J.
...I'll try and get some pics of that Pecan wood I have in the garage for you. Forgot about it on this end!

That would be something to behold ----can't say i have ever come across pecan wood before, can only imagine it would be a little like walnut.
I forget more than i remember these days-----just don't worry about it. Jw.
Sunday morning, and her who shall be obeyed has stated thou shallt not wear thy workshop clothes today. You do not argue with a grizzly on the last sunday of August, that's if you wish to make it to the Monday. So, here i am in me best cords, Van Heusen shirt and Pringle cashmere, dressed like a dogs dinner with the workshop a definite O.O.B. Read the sunday telegraph and an outright war with the soviets is not something i would look forward to, done the General knowledge crossword, twiddling my thumbs is not something i do well.
Picked up all the windfall bramleys and a few conference pears for the table , deadheaded the Dahlias, picked a few runner beans, sat down and sulked for a while, slammed the door both going out and coming back, hasn't made a blind bit of difference madame is adamant, she wants a nice day together-----for crying out loud i ask you .10-30 am------theres a whole friggin day left, i refuse to even plug the telly in, let alone watch the damn thing.
i may have to take up religion at this rate, answered every thread on S&F and am rapidly running out of intelligent or rubbishical things to rabbit about----- yours truly -----well and truly screwed!!!!!!!
Whaaaat!!!.....Fed everyday--check

You young'uns don't know yer born...........Off to Chapel with you!
Belligerence paid off ----by 11am Jilly had thrown in the towel and demanded I leave the house,----I duly obliged, took off the Sunday strides, shed the Van Heusen and Pringle cashmere . Donned the shop gear and normal service was resumed.
Spent a couple of hours chasing down the Mitch Lembke Silver wing that ran with a V 12 Jag. Lump installed to a Bravo 1. ET79 . Rumours and sightings abound for this particular boat.
Bob V says he's seen it up for sale but can't remember where.
Strange thing is, why the hell didn't Rich or Mike M. snatch this beauty up, it's no money and is ET racing at it's best, ready made powerboat racing history on a trailer.
There are all sorts of silver wings out there, none of em look at all like ET 79, I would say this was a one off, and I still think it looks more like a Seebold than a Seebold.
I'll maybe give Billy a call and see if he can enlighten me on the hull.
Amazing what there is out there once you start looking----all the way to Australia and all points in between-----it becomes absolutely clear that it was not cost that lead to the demise of racing, but the draconian measures that the authorities imposed on the boating fraternity.
Insurance is a massive stumbling block and is used to browbeat and blackmail any would be racer.
Here I go again----jimmy Dean-----rebel without a cause------better get out of here before the snot starts to fly-----May you find peace with your maker. G'night,j.
Have to get MR. Fun to talk to me on the " tricks" thread----was trying to find out about the SILVERWING E T 79, Bob V found it and lost it so I had a forage and found out it was for sale a couple of years ago for $15,000. Todays asking price is $10,500 ( according to Bob V ).
This is American race boat history-----it might have had an English motor installed, but I would rate it more valuable than ANY Molinari rig regardless of engine.
It must have been the V 12 out of the E type jaguar----they were a strong "cooking" engine but the D Type has a powerful racing pedigree so someone must know how to coax the horses from it.
It will be a great talking point at Tavares in November ----would love to see somebody bite the bullet and buy it.
MR fun wants to put it back to its former glory and race it in Parker again some 30 years after it was the overall winner there.
Just got a feeling in my water that boat is about to find a new owner any day now!!
Metric hull with imperial engine....
I found that same listing from two years ago, but I cannot find the more recent one. It has been a while since I saw the last listing. If you read down on that older listing it says: "still for sale, i need the space make an offer, thanks" My guess is that it probably sold.
Back when ET79 won Parker, it was running the Jaguar V-12 built by Art Mission of British Motor Service - 521 W. Katella Ave, Orange, CA. 92867 - (714) 997-1122
I know that the Silver Wing ET80 "Sasquatch" is still inside the Quaker Steak & Lube resturaunt in Clearwater, Fl. When I inquired a few years ago from the parent company, Best Wings (USA), they said that they purchase it from the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum in Kent Washington. They said it was for sale, but I never did follow up to get a price. Sasquatch was the owned by Art Williams and driven by Greg Foster to win the Parker Enduro in 1994.

There's a rake of V12 Jag. Engines for sale, ranging in price from £500------£1250 in the UK.
Shipping would probably double the price, but a half tidy basic engine should come out under $5,000.
You'd be hard pressed to go past a LS aluminium chev these days, probably lighter as well
Hey Jackie
I was just thinking, I'll bet most world powerboat records are held by engines that are imperial measurements?
Ken Warby boat was most likely to be metric but engine wasnt.
Bingo
But thats a big block, must have needed the extra torque
The whole object of restoring an antique ( 25 years old, vintage,50 years and I think veteran is 75/100 )is to keep the "Provenance" -----authenticity -----originality. Otherwise it has no value!
Would be a piece of cake to stick an Ilmor lump in the Cosworth, but it would no longer be of any value. Problem is a fresh built DFV at $100,000 would be stinking cheap in today's market.
We all TALK about 5/600 hp from a four pot VW, but where's the history in that, and an LS alloy Chevy, they have to make their own mark and actually DO something before they have the right to be "Historic"
WARBY pulled off one of the greatest feats of powerboating ever done, how the hell he did it is an enigma------(was 18 mph short of the record, so his mom told him to "chop 18" off the rudder!!!)
Not Hollywood or the A team or mission impossible combined could come up with a story line like that----fact is the record still stands today.
Last time I saw Ken was at the old farts annual four or five years ago----he was fat and happy and more important ----still alive.
First time I ever met him was at the Brighton boat show-----Ros Knott ( editor of powerboat magazine)brought this chap on to the stand and we chatted for a while when she upped with--------and what do you think of this Australian who has just broken the world water speed record-----------I told her, he's mad as a bloody March hare -----what sort of an idiot would go after a world record on his own, hells teeth, I don't think he even had a safety boat----the guy is a total fruit and nut case----------Ros just grinned at me and said "thanks for that Jackie, -------meet Ken WARBY "
...good point Jackie. Why I have turned down offers to take this old Contender hull and turn her into another version of a "Texas Flats Boat". Pull the top cap off, deck her after adding more weight with supports, and add a center console and a couple of seats.
"Thanks guys for the suggestions, but I want to keep her original." is what i always say!!
BTW: Jackie, I will post up some pics of the Pecan wood I have here in the garage as well as some pics of the Orchard soon as I get some time.
I'm all for authentic restorations so we all get to see them on the water
We have been in negotiations with Ford and Cosworths to try and do a deal on a DFV for three years now, but have so far been unsuccessful. Mark has also been up to his fetlocks building his super boat, designing his new race boat, beating on props and customising gear cases , so the "Cosworth
has lain largely untouched-----it's under cover at GIECO for now, but I have "High Hopes". It just has to be totally original to make the project worthwhile.
Way to go Batman, origin and authenticity is what makes a vintage boat desirable and expensive, so why settle for less?
PROCRASTINATION is the enemy of old timers------would like to see pics of the Pecan wood in the garage and on the trees------get the Kodak or the canon out and snap away-----slap the card into the card reader and download------if five year old kids can do it so can you and me.
Remember...they are only original once.
Thats true Bob----restoration is just stretching the boundaries without taking the roof off.
A bit like the fairground of life, some take the roundabout, others take the swings, some just wander, eating candy floss and fries, then a few lucky people like us get to ride the roller coaster.
Me myself keep going back for just one more ride----long may the fairground stay in town.

Just in case you thought I was skiving -----well on the way with with this rag and stick concept, found a piece of marble, rooted through the Acacia saved from the bonfire, had some odd pieces of stainless skulking around, a bit of sawing, carving and polishing and something starts to happen.
another for the pool room I suppose.
Hey Stevo, Thats the Rabondages trophy from 1971----it adorns my sisters window sill.
...Jackie, here are some pics of when we trimmed the lower branches off of the Pecan trees. The small stuff I threw into the shredder on the back of an old Oliver tractor so I could use it for smoking meats on the small pit. I'll take some pics tomorrow of the big pieces my Father wanted to make table tops and cutting boards out of.

Awesome-----it looks like the "Outback", those branches are as big as I can handle these days, many, many thanks for taking the time and trouble to humour an old fart, much appreciated,j.
Look in any stainless steel sail and there it will be Stevo, I just wanted to see who would be dumb enough to ask me that question first----amazing when Jill and me go out and get introduced to people we have never met, they all think their the first one to mention fell down and vinegar and brown paper before falling over in hysterics. Dopey buggers!!
Jackie,
The boat that we won Parker with was our Seebold, after that win we started on the new Silverwing, and sold the Seebold to Gary Mills in Hawthorne Nevada. The Boat that set the Kilo record was our 2ndSilverwing (the first one with the single seat race deck), that boat was destroyed in the previously mentioned highway accident. The boat that is for sale in Lake Havasu City, is the boat that we built after the accident, it has a Speedmaster IV, the other 2 boays ran a special sand cast Speedmaster II. The "Sasquatch" boat in Florida, is the identical Silverwing hull as our Kilo record boat with a Jaime Auld capsule, with the sand cast Speedmaster II.
I hope that this information is helpful. I remember when you ran the Cosworth at Parker, it was a awesome and fun to watch.
Wow, now that is a shed load of information which leads to a whole bunch of questions.
So, the boat that won Parker no longer exists-----is that right?
Or am I being a bit thick here, or did you sell THE ORIGINAL PARKER WINNING BOAT TO GARY MILLS.?
I have seen the "Sasquatch" boat for sale and assumed that was a copy of ET79?
Now the antique boat world is a strange phenominum , provenance, authenticity and originality is paramount.
They don't take prisoners or "wannabes" and put em on a podium, it's either "The One" and worth a full $ 100--------or not, and worth 10cents.
A good example is the Cosworth ------if it's restored to original with a DFV, it would fetch tram ticket numbers--------with an Ilmor or a hot V Dub -----not worth a light, total waste of time.
Same thing with The Silverwing ET79 if it's the original Seebold, a V12 Jag lump could be horseshoed into it and bingo----you're talking lottery money!!!
Question begs-----which hull is it???
We sold the Seebold that won Parker to the Mills family. I have tried to get ahold of them, but have had no luck, so I don't know if is still around.
How about a photo of the old oliver....
That went down like a turd in a punch bowl -----never mind, you can't win 'em all as my sainted mother used to say.
Don't think we had many "Oliver's"this side of the pond, mostly Massey, ford and john deere , before we joined the EU, farmers stuck mainly to -----Massey Ferguson ------Ford and International, but when the EU started subsidising all things to do with bovines, grass and corn, farmers thought they died and gone to heaven.
Whoopee let's have a 500 hp John Deere AND a New Holland with a chair lift to get up in to drive it.
Might as well have a 6 furrow plough and a Combine to do the 10 acres.
I also would like to see your dad's stack of pecan and the Oliver.j.
Things ran smoothly in the workshop this morning-----worked up quite a sweat-----shop was tidy , planer and chisels blades singing nicely------going like a demented Guipetto and the project was taking shape and suddenly it's lunchtime. Her who shall be obeyed was doing the old folks mini bus run from 12.30 onwards so I should have a home run sort of afternoon.
Shoulda known better, of course when things are running smooth, something happens to screw it all to high heaven, and so it transpired.
Been trying to get the wood stove guy to to put all new iron sides in the wood burner, stove is French and 25years old but is like me, getting on a bit and in need of restoration . This has been ongoing for ten months now and he decides today's the day. After an hours huffing and puffing, he decides it's never going to fit as it is, will have to take the sides back to his shop and modify.
Now this does not bode well at all seeing as how he is talking to the worlds number two "MODIFIER"
led him by the ear into MY shop and proceeded to cut and grind various ends, sides, and intrusions,
now cutting and grinding cast iron when you are well and truly into a hardwood polished super clean project simply does not gel well------the afternoon was well and truly "Bollocksed"------not only that, my beautifully clean workbench resembled the bottom of a baby's pram at feed time, so much for being a Samaritan -----from now on I am going to be a complete asse hole and refuse aid and assistance to anyone.
Yes, the stove has a nice new interior, I got an hours mopping up to do before I can even begin to function in the shop, my day turned to worms, how about yours ? MYGGWY , J.
Any cast iron is too much cast iron. I hate dealing with it also. Mood is much better now because cool weather = no wake board boats to watch out for on the early morning blast across the lake. I even passed on a cyclops joke and Steverino nailed you anyway.
Dave
Morning Dave, I did leave the gate wide open for you but you must have been buSy "Lake charging". Pinson and I go back nigh on fifty years so were entitled to a bit of banter.
Still waiting for some more Pecan pictures, Never did get to see the finished workshop,
DONMAC must have some free time now and be winding down .
Willabee seems to have hibernated, only two months to the OFF and it's game on.
Big news for me, Sam, my youngest has decided I should fly "BUSINESS " with British Airways to Tavares----think she wants to see if I am keeping decent and not decadent company, gives her a chance to play golf with a few "Legends"------ she grew up with boat racing, and raced herself in the junior classes against some kids that went on to become famous.
Jilly just informed me , no workshop today, we are babysitting for her eldest son over in Harlow and need to be there by lunchtime. On with the best bib and tucker, gotta look the part dontcha know.
Bugger, it's the Italian GP tomorrow, will have to record it, will be travelling back Sunday afternoon.
