Wing and a Jones.
Willabee...where have you been hiding ??
mbd29 - Love the wing pictures. Who ran the 20/220 wing ?? What is the story about the aerial shots in general....did you take them ?? Thanks for sharing.
I would like to know if anyone knows anything about the x-119 20' in post 355. Check out the canopys.
I think they are the same type on the "never used" Wing sold by the Ted Miller estate
I think they were a Mercury deal....Kenny didn't like them....he felt like he was in a greenhouse. Ted made his canopies.....they were a one off custom.
Actually they were a "two off" custom. There is another set in Florida. I have been trying to track down the manufacturer with no success. Ted told me he had them made by an "aircraft cowling guy in Ohio"....... but so far I have had no luck in finding that source. Ted promised to "find the number and address" because"It's around here somewhere."...... but, alas, that never happened.

Last rumor I heard was the guy in Ohio moved. Anyway I am told he is not doing them any longer. The ones in the Picture on x-119 are not anything like the ones on Millers wing. The ones in the picture are made from round tubing and plexiglass. I know either Switzer or Mercury made at least a couple sets like the ones in the picture above.
That is the samething Ted told me more or less........at least his story jived.Quote:

Humm..........the plot thickens.Quote:

It is a "thick plot" Rick!!!:D:D
Ted's were beautiful with hinged openings above the cockpits......
I tried to use the modern tunnel boat canopies from Tiger Performance, but they really don't fit.
I guess tubing and plexiglass will have to do at some point.......or an aircraft junk yard might yield something?

By the way....The air flow at 90 or so REALLY pushes your head back with a helmet on....... something I am not accustomed to in the various open cockpit Molinari's, Miles, and Seebolds that I have driven over the years.... at considerably higher speeds.
I may try a simple wrap around to try and reduce the flow....but I don't want to create down force in the process.
Does the windshield have to be from the original source? i'm sure there are several companies that could copy an existing piece. Custom Mold and Tint is one of them.
Backfire ;)

Have you tried these guys before? Or are they the $5grand folks?
Rich, one thing I noticed in your wing photos is that the top of your helmet is
a couple inches above where a canopy would be, you would have to lower the
seat or scrunch down in a fully enclosed canopy. That could also be why your
feeling the wind..
