The Tuff 24 is 24'9" RBT, so it is too long for this particular thread. How that is "biased" is mind boggling to me. I have spread zero mis-information. I just said there are no photos of the Tuff running in rough waters so far. If you have photos please post them up, if not then I rest my case. Do you have some?
For this thread, the Tuff 21 remains at the top at 106mph. Perhaps the new Tuff will outdo it. I hope so.

A while back, somebody posted up the numbers supplied to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for the new Mercury outboards. All things that are important to a fisherman. To date no 250R boat has passed the 250XS record top speed on an XB21.
What you don't see in any of the Fastbass Marine TV videos is all the testing that was done on the 250XS and 300XS side by side. The 250XS is an amazing motor. When I first switched to the 300XS from a 225XS I was like WTF, the 225XS with the same 1.62 case got out of the hole better with the same props. The 250XS motors down low power is incredible and puts the 300XS to shame. It is one of the reasons you see, the 1.62 to 1.75 swap, DBR tuner test, and Flywheel test on Fastbass Marine TV. I was trying to get the 300XS to launch with a 250XS. Up top the horsepower prevails but down low the 250XS was strong and left my 300XS chasing down the 250XS test boat.
Interesting to note I tried to repeat the 1.6 to 1.75 gear case test I did on the 300XS and 250XS on the 300R and the 1.6 case didn't perform well. The 1.6 case is not the right case for the 300R. We brought the results to Merc and they agreed and recommended we only use the 1.75 case on new boats going forward.
Ya, well said river rocket. The 1.6 gears are mostly for a twin sport cat setup.
On the new V8, the 250 Pro XS and 250R are the exact same engine, so power is exactly the same. Great value there, especially if you want the TM, the DTS Pro xs is a good deal. The 250R is only a mechanical SM. Great if you want to save some money over the 300R.
I think the 250R on the right boat screams. We had a reader repower a Mirage with a 250R and I think he was running 114 MPH.

The newest 450R test boat should be running soon and we will have 450R testing on that boat and the Allison XB21 450R boat. Real data comparisons of the 450R vs the 300R. Not to mention side by side comparisons of the new Carbon Fiber LCB vs the Allison XB21. In what limited testing data I gathered the 450R is pulling hard on the Allison XB21. Crazy power and significant 5-85 and 3000ft drag test improvements. It will be interesting to see it on the data logger when we have it running well on top.
The loaded to fish XB21 300R test boat was running a best of:
5-85mph in 13.8 seconds and 1100ft(28 Promax)
5-100mph test in 24 seconds and 2235ft (32P3BC)
5-105mph test in 33 seconds and 3439ft (32 5-BLD CNC).
Best over all wheel Mercury 5 Blade CNC
5-85mph in 17 seconds and 1200ft, 5-100mph test in 26 seconds and 2442ft, 5-105mph test in 33 seconds and 3439ft Top speed 108.1
Best over all poor mans wheel 34 P4 BC
5-85mph in 18 seconds and 1232ft, 5-100mph test in 28 seconds and 2675ft, 5-105mph test in 37 seconds and 4062ft Top speed 108.1
Early indications are the 450R boat will be push us into testing the 5-110mph or the 5-115mph. All with a wheel big enough to put up those huge numbers and still beat the 300R running an under pitched 28 in the lower ranges. That is moving.
I also pulled some data on a Nizpro SHO. Really cool results as well. That video will be out soon on Fastbass Marine TV.
