COMINSPORT or COMINOFF requests homologation of an engine for competition in certain UIM classes
Printable View
You can be a sneaky geekie when you want to be Pilgrim without really trying——— if the guy had his RYA/UIM certification that the motor measured under two litres—— then he would be perfectly eligible!
Does not matter to me what brand, or creed, or colour——- we really did want everyone to race without the politics !
Hi Jackie
did you consider the UIM may have bought in the volume issue to homologation sheets due to the Cosworth?
Perhaps someone knows or has old sheets?
[QUOTE=Bob V;3104336][/QUOTWill you let it be Bob—— that means I have to wake up at least twenty more times—— I’m pushing my luck here!
20 days and counting...
Afraid I got into with Lassie again on the drivers forum——- For a brief moment in time Apparently Jon Jones driving a Jonrude led an F1 race———- that’s it—— end of—— ( it had to have puked !)
If that’s all I could manage in twenty five years of F1 competitions——- I’d have kept very quiet indeed about it !
Jesus wept Pilgrim—- what do you think I am ? A walking UIM/APBA rule book——- if your that hell bent on clarifying rules——- buy the FECKIN rule books !
Me, I’m just an old fart who loves to discuss boat racing.
Now just imagine what you think Mike Jones—— Fred Hauenstein —- Bob Wartinger—- and the like have been doing at the UIM for the last 30/40 years ? Playing Checkers ?
Maybe I should have said “Worked closely” and not INFLUENCED—— .
We had a few Ozzie’s raced in the Fonda series over the years—— they might talk a bit funny, ( both the Colonials and the Aussies Managed to mutilate the English language)but for the most part they’re very similar to most other people !
I think they invite Americans to ensure they stay connected and they send the fee.
I dont hear a good word for the UIM from any European racers just an expensive jolly for UIM staff at races.
After all its European like FIFA, FIA etc etc
Again I have to correct you Pilgrim——- Take old man WARBY for instance, he’s as Australian as they come and even talks funny——- he couldn’t get the “ Spirits” bum wet without the UIM sanctioning it !
Afraid their “INFLUENCE “ is worldwide, like it or not !
Even in the USA it’s the UIM that issue the world record tickets !
Like you—— I never heard a good word either about the UIM——- they mustdo some good——- but I’m buggered if I know what ?
FIFA—-FIA— UIM—UN—— EEU—- PARLIAMENT——Congress—— A necessary evil—- but still as bent as an eleven sided threepenny bit!
Beetled on with the America’s cup project and the Doc Magoon 444—— that one’s got me ticking—— is it me Gene—— or are there quite a few different forms of propulsion in that particular hull?
Think I’ve seen twin Outboard— four outboards and both single and twin stern drives ?
Have you got a colour phoggie of ANY of the 444’s ?
In the end I had to pull another plank from my store of English oak——- hells teeth, what else am I going to make with the stuff ?
I moan and groan about not being able to find any decent hardwood and I’m sat on a rake of the stuff I’ve had for the last ten years !
Watch this space Scotty B. There’s hope for you yet.
Mark and Craig are back at work, but I darent call to see what’s happening just yet—— maybe next week !
Last week of Daughter Sams Aussie vacation——- been gone a month——- be quite nice to get all the bricks back in order .,
I suppose I’m a creature of habit really——- I like everything in order, so I know where to reach in case of emergency!
Doctors surgery this morning—— just a regular six month check up—- nothing else, feeling better than I have for years.
Hi Jackie
hard to follow the P1 media, clearly the boats have new designed decks
Did they get new designed hulls or just remade carbon ones from old mold?
I believe they were the same hulls, just made of carbon now powerabout.
Found this the other day snooping the IOT Jackie...

C’mon Bobby Vee—— you’ll have to do better than that——- pictures don’t match the description——- it definitely says 2 x Mercruiser inboards !
Tis not what the piccie shows !
White ——- Baby crap yellow———- Ivory ? Surely somebody somewhere got a snap of the 444 in glorious technicolour?
Where are you when I need you ?
Thats the one crisis——— 40’ and twin mercruiser——- I’ll cut the hull out tomorrow—— solid English oak. Pity it’s going to be painted —— but at least it’s a great individual colour scheme.
Ill enjoy doing this———— plastic has its place in life—— but it’s not “ Touchy Feely”-
Nothing like a concept—— carved from the heart—— might not be deadly accurate—- but there’s a definite “TOUCH OF CLASS “ about Them!
Ok so it’s a bloody good boat for a future concept——- Always got on well with Rick—— so knowing two out of three with a legend can’t be bad——— If anybody wants to put his name on it—— speak now or forever hold your “peace”——- Once my grandson puts a claim in—— it’s lost forever ! For nowt ?
Hello Mr. Wilson (as said by Dennis the Menace)
No...no...no I only posted that one to give recognition to the mechanic. Sorry, but the internet is void of any color pictures of the 444. The mechanic, aka Gene Lanham, may be your only hope unless Midlife or Fuji come up with some from their vaults. By the way...19 and counting...
Well I have to tell you
, Crisis came up trumps with some pictures ( in colour) which is exactly what I needed?
Beavered like a demented. Gippetto and got both the 36 and the forty footer roughed out!
Theres a bit enthusiasm back in the shop again ,!

Sorry, Bob—is the search for ‘ color pictures of the Aeromarine III AND the 40’ NY boat?
We sold both these boats and they both went to ENGLAND. They were quickly repainted by their new owners—and lost their identity
I’m sure Jackie is aware the Aeromarine III has recently been purchased by his countryman Chrisian Toll—who will certainly restore the boat to the highest boat show standards!
The hull shape of that era of offshore raceboat reminds me some of scaled down WW2 PT Boats,is that a fair observation or am I imagining that?
1974--Charles Gill ---'I Like It Too'----
The boat continued its winning ways
Some are saying that hull won more Offshore Races than any boat in history??

There are a few 444 pictures in color---

Gene and Bobby Vee—- must apologise for the confusion—— put it down to a mix of stupidity— old age and over enthusiasm!
I got enough timber cut for five boats—-( about a third of the plank)
36’ Cigarette with four outboards !
40’ Cigarette ( US1 ) With Twin Mercruisers !
?’ Cigarette with triple outboards !
?’ Cigarette with twin outboards !
Which of the above were ——444’s ?
Still leaves i billet—- just in case anyone forgot to mention something !
Just seen I forgot the Citicorp——— looks like I’m busy for the rest of January!
