Tricks that old racers get up to after retirement

Another bloody Thursday rushed up and took us unawares, as my sainted mother used to say "it's always rent day", at least it seems that way.
Will do the car boot ritual this morning------I suppose it's a bit like the lottery--------the day you don't buy a ticket, is the day your number comes up. If I give it a miss, I know damn well I'll miss the Crown Jewels .
Have until 16;00hrs in the shop, then we're off down to the lifeboat station at Shoreham-By -Sea for the Christmas Carol Service? Jills son in law is a crew member on the new Tamour class boat.
Christmas is coming at a rapid rate of knots, never seem to be wholly prepared for it no matter how I try.
Though I must confess, shall be glad to see the Arse end of 2015, it's been a stone bitch of a year!
The Lembske turnpike is free running today with not much traffic so I might make good time today barring accidents and breakdowns of course, need to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Seebold sponsons are too short and stubby, need to sleek and stretch 'em a tad-----couldn't quite put the finger on what was not wrong------but not quite right either------think I just cracked it.

Just have to wear the right thinking cap for the day and "Voila" a little bit of magic and we're almost there---------NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF THE OBJECTIVE------

We did the Carol service inside the lifeboat station---------it's a fairly new build, covers three floors with the lifeboat fitted snugly inside.
The singers, some forty in number,stood on the aft deck------the station was packed with revellers!
Was a very moving occasion------to be in there ----in a lifeboat station seeped in maritime history------I couldn't help but marvel at this proud new boat------the latest in a long line of "Shoreham" lifeboats, the whole crew were in attendance------the rafters rang to the sound of Christmas carols being rendered as only an accomplished choir can do!
Looking Round the boat then sitting at the helm is a bit like sitting in a digger, big comfy armchair----full safety harness, joystick controls------no sign of a wheel.
These craft are self righting------big diesels----gyros, fly by wire, unsinkable works of art that simply save lives of people in distress around our shores-----------and there's 250 of them around the British coastline.
Was a very moving experience and I'm glad I made the effort------Carol concerts are not usually my cup of tea but I must confess to the odd tear down the cheek tonight------maybe I'm getting soft in my dotage!

Had a useful and productive day in the shop------got the six "Long" intakes stitched to the manifold, next up are the cam covers and exhaust pipes, then the alpha 1V stern drive and gear case.
Cut down the stubby sponsons and made 'em Seebold sleek, they even feel better-----the whole shebang is gelling nicely-------still got three full work days to go, Maybe do a "Progress" Phoggie or three come Sunday .

Another day-----another dollar------
A week today and it'll all be over! Two weeks today and it'll be next year!
That roller coaster of a ride we're on is gathering momentum!
Do have some nice happenings planned for next year------first up is the Luxury Carribean Cruise-----will have to take time out, switch off and enjoy the occasion.
Next up is my grandson Craig's wedding down in the Keys come April.
Was hoping I might be able to fit a trip to Tavares in sometime but the dates a tad off to suit so I'll have to wait until next oct/Nov.
if I'm ever going to get ET 79 finished I'd better get outa a bed and stop waffling.

Been a satisfying sort of day------ET 79 now looks like a Seebold -------it don't "Feel" like a Seebold yet, but it's getting there slowly, you don't get many V12/s to the pound these days!
Roughed out the gear case and stern drive-------Polished all twelve intakes and the manifold.
Next up are the cam covers!

Bob------that was below the belt------was not expecting that-----have put my heart and soul into this project-----gone far deeper than I ever intended-----strange thing is, I have no idea WHY,?
There is no rational explanation for this , I have taken more time and trouble to get this right than i ever did with any previous project, suddenly it is very important I get this absolutely spot on!
So far, so good, the Seebold " Feels " right, it feels like a Seebold!
Next thing is to get the Jag absolutely right------did a ton of research and found Mitch had used the long intakes to get maximum torque-------the twin overhead cam covers are totally different to the normal V8/s so it was important to get them about right also.
Next up is the sand cast Alpha 1V stern drive which I have never even heard of--------just hope That my interpretation is not far wide of the mark--------!,
Upshot of all this is, I have to elongate the whole concept or it will fall well short of the ET79 that Mitchell Lempske ran so successfully .
I Have to tell you, I never have been so deeply involved in any project-----I never ever met Mitche so why the hell this concept has become paramount is a complete enigma !
All I can do is give it my best shot---------there's an interesting couple of days still to come, keep looking and I'll keep trying.

Somehow I get the strange feeling that Mitch Lembke's spirit is hanging out at Jackie's shop with two goals in mind:

1. To complete some unfinished business...and
2. To help Jackie learn to spell his family's name correctly. :)

Lets see what the finished article comes out like Rich------I have a bad habit of blowing my own bugle but the tune I was meant to play wasn't the one that was heard.

I have seen the LEMBKE name spelt wrongly so many times------I abhor names spelt incorrectly, just let me assure you, now I know the correct spelling I will never make that mistake again.

Tom Wilkinshaw was a good friend to one of my bestest " mates Rex White------he was good with Jags.
Never realised just how many versions there were of the V12, also came across a very respectable V8 four litre Jag?

Very few people in the world will understand the outstanding achievement and the tremendous effort that went into ET79, the V12 Jaguar engined Seebold.
I have tried to tell collectors, like T2X, Roger H, Mike Mullins and more besides that the most valuable tunnel boat in the USA today is the above mentioned---------nobody listened.
I don't do replicas or scale models-------if you want one of those, buy a Revell or a Dinky or any of the far eastern products--------they are fantastic!!! And a hell of a lot cheaper than anything I ever made.
What you get from me is a little bit of boating history--------made with feeling--------from an old fart who was there---------back in the day.
There's also no doubt about it-----------the more I did------the harder I tried--------the better I got-------early "Concepts" used to take two or three days, later ones take two to three weeks.

I do get a big kick out doing something impossible (for me) and SURMAZING my friends, especially STAVROS. (Seeroy)------and Roger H. Haven't reached Willabee yet, but I'm working on it!!!

Jackie - It is my understanding that there were three of the ET79 Silverwing boats that were built (only one with a V12). The last one built was for sale back in 2011. I posted the listing below:
