https://www.brandenburg.com/Images/s...cavation-1.jpg...in 2010 over 350,000 cubic yards of contaminated soil & sediment were excavated & trucked to an off-site location for processing & disposal. ground water plumes were discovered to be highly contaminated with site related solvents, refered to as dense non-aqueous phase liquids, or DNAPLs, and were treated in 2011 with bentonite clay & zero-valent iron to break down the contaminents. other lower concentration contaminated ground water plumes were treated in 2014 by injecting the groundwater with an oxidizer(sodium permanganate) to break down the solvents. this whole site pollution problem goes on and on, and continues to be a process even today...

What we needed here was an equivalent book like "Iron Fist" for OMC that would chronicle WHO made the leadership and financial mistakes that pulled the company to the ground. Lawn mowers, scuba pumps, house boats and house trailers didn't help the situation either. The sterndrive program was a piece of junk from the start.Quote:

I have Said it before and i will say it again, Whoever made the decision to take the easy way out and add 2 cylinders to the v4 crossflow instead of producing the loop charged v6 motors they were racing at the time sent the company on a path that eventually put them way behind all the competiton years down the road. What yamaha did proves it with out a doubt.
I think they bet the farm on beating Merc with their V8 program.......and almost did.........then came the EPA emissions directive deadlines and that changed everything. FICHT was a foolish shortcut attempt to do that. The writing had been carved in stone........end of the line with 2 strokes. Mercury went back to a clean sheet of paper and started with the Verado. OMC did not have the resources ($$$) to do likewise. Yamaha (to this day) is struggling with emissions and their OEM prices are ridiculous.Quote:
