JamesGang may come along as he knows a lot about Velocity and his son runs the old style Stepp Velocity 22 no cabin to 97mph. I always thought that the no cabin Stepp 22 ended in 1986. Then the newer Regal Velocity 22 with cabin came in 1987 and ran all the way until 2012 when the last boats were built.

Are you thinking that today, Velocity USA is using those 2012 molds for the 230 SC bottom and 22 Punisher bottom? Certainly a proven rough water design.

I dont think these are new models, Steve Stepp design,looks like they just added wind screen to 23 jmo

Definitely a different deck with a rounded wind screen and more overhang at the transom.

The regal built boats were only a few years. My year 2000 model 220 is a Steve Stepp boat. I haven’t checked the specs but the new 230 looks like my boat with the added transom “wings”. The added wings added to the overall length, but may be the same boat. Also think the deck is the same as previous model it just looks different in different pics from different angles. Just my thoughts....

I’ve never liked the look of the upswept foredeck to the windshield. It’s a bit of a Velocity thing on a few of their models. Everything else looks good. The new 22’ “Punisher” model looks like it may be more of a flat deck style, might appeal to me.

Progression looks great and Tuff.......anyone not love ‘em? :smiletest: Awesome boats.

Aaron with his own 1998 Velocity 22 with cabin ran the fastest. After he got done dialing it in with a stock 300XS his best was 84.8 mph if I recall correctly.

It looks like there is agreement that the current Velocity 230 SC is using the identical hull bottom and running surface from back in the day. With the 12" pad and notch it's had years of rough water success. Velocity USA needs to send a 230 SC hull to Wildman for the master to dial it in. Current test results of 78 mph seem low, there should be more there. 85 mph 23' family go fast SOB with 7' long cabin cushions and a potti for the wife?

That one is my boat. I think you're right on the money with the years for the Stepp vs regal 22's. Mine (pictured upside down) is a 1991. It is a regal boat that I gutted and rebuilt. Removed the cabin and blueprinted the bottom. With a 300x ran 93. Not quite as fast as Ben's as I think he's even found some more speed. I managed to strip 700lbs out of the boat by removing the cabin and the way the regal one's were built and switching from standard plywood to Okoume.
