It was also discovered that the offcycle bounce in the pipe aided acelleration below the rpm of pipe's tuned length. On the 4's the pipes were tuned for 8400 rpm, but with pairing, the same pipe length also pulled better from 4200 to 6300 than a single pipe for each cylinder did.
