Twould appear that even in England, the
famous and wealthy took a liking for the “DUESEY”- looks like Sir Malcolm had the distributership all tied up.
Thirty years ago I was given a very expensive Duesenburgh Phaeton Kit to keep me occupied whilst I recuperated from a triple by pass. Every now and again I take it down from the top shelf in my workshop to finish off the project————— every time do I stick it back on the top shelf again.
Might have to send it to John S to get it detailed!
A27 was gridlocked around Chichester for hours———- no way were we going to the yacht club which is south west of Chi. Would have Been tea time before we made it!
Went to my daughter Sam’s local “ THE ELMER” had a fantastic meal and we all met up there ,Jilly included ?
It would be interesting to know how many if any Duesenbergs Malcolm Campbell managed to shift over this side, bearing in mind he had some stiff opposition in the form of Rolls and Lagonda and such like.....
Talking of a Campbell...K7 will be taking to the water once again during the next day or two for the first time since the accident....Assuming we all have at least a passing interest in the subject could someone brighter than me  post a link....Jackie.....Bob V ?
Here you go...I will post more if it actually happens this weekend.

No good asking me Phill——— I know that somebody up north has spent half his life putting K7 back together !
Im told on good authority that this is the original——— the one pulled from the bottom of the lake!
Lots of myths and legends surround Bluebird.
Visit lake Windermere and Bowness———- take the ferry to the K7 museum and you will be staggered by the number of Bluebirds there are.
My son Mark drove the boat for Anthony Hopkins when they did the film “Across The Lake”- Yes I still have my K7 Club gold badge that was awarded after my run in the little black sprint Molinari
I can tell you exactly where I was at the moment Campbell did the run.
Met Leo Villa many times at the K7 get togethers——— must confess I haven’t been to one for over thirty years.
Last one I went to was when Keith Duckworth was presented with the Harmsworth Trophy for his work on the ?”COSWORTH”.
Bob thank you for your computer skills saved the day again.....
Meanwhile back in Engerland.......Man drops TV controller into glass of water..lol
Not a lot to report today——- been a bit “Blue arsed Fly”———- up to my fetlocks in mundane!
Jilly still not up to muster——— but life goes on!
Bluebird. (k7) has gone up to the Isle of Bute———-presumably for a shakedown——— not quite sure what’s happening around the boat, anyone know any different?
Here is the latest. No video posted yet, but a good news article.

I only kill when it’s absolutely necessary with no alternative !
Work rate is at an all time low———- I even feel like I’ve retired from pleasurable pastime and taken up manual labour. I had forgotten how miserable and mundane everyday work could be, but we’re getting there, albeit slowly !
Good article on “Bluebird” (K7)—- BBC is still a pretty reliable source of information unless your name happens to be Cliff Richard, ?
Should get some shoptime in today——- no visiters or well wishers due, ninety degrees forecast, so maybe folks will stay home !
V-12.....Check
125 HP SIX (I think it reads).....check
Twin Lever throttle control....check
Racing fuel filler cap....check
What does she float like Bob??
You missed the cleats and the flagpole ! Think I’ll give that one a miss Bob——- up to my fetlocks in forty foot centre console tunnel,——— Ok, so it’s taking me a while longer than usual, but what the hell, I ain’t going anywhere, and nobody’s rushing to buy anything!
A definite improvement in her ladyship——- she decided she was coming with us for the daily dog walk.
Slindon forest is a dog walkers paradise——— unfortunately I am not a dog walker in any shape or form——— dog lovers will glibly tell you it’s “Good for you”,——— cobblers !—- it’s tiring—— soul destroying and your good for nothing at the end of the day. I can tell you this from experience——-
So off we went ——— her majesty sporting a pair of Alpine walking sticks ( the sort that downhill slalom skiers use for negotiating tight corners ), head down and arse up, sticks spread wide and on a mission! Give her fair dues, she did stop and wait for me every 250 yards or so, but after a couple of miles I was out on my feet———— I DO NOT DO TWO MILE HIKES END OF !
Finally made it back to the car park, I have never ever been so glad to see the the trusty Lexus F Sport,——— I have no idea if it’s happening again today——— I may have to take a sickie !
Problem is——— by law, you are not allowed to drive for six weeks after a hip replacement——— and there’s still two weeks to go.
I have some deep thinking and coniving to do here.——- still, IM SMARTER THAN THE AVERAGE BOO BOO !!!!!!!
So after 17 years the original boat has been restored after being raised from Coniston where it had lain since the accident in 67. 90 or so percent original you can see the long and painstaking restoration at www.bluebirdproject.com. Nothing short of phenomenal is how to describe it. They are in Bute for a crew training exercise as nobody on the current team has ever launched the boat or handled or refueled it on the water. The LDNPA was being difficult (as they can be ) and so Bute was deemed to be an excellent place for the training and so it has so far proved to be. Two Pilots will test the boat to a so far unknown speed but it won't be anything spectacular although the "low speed" handling tests have already seen the boat either planning or close to, slightly in excess of 60mph. They are there for the next 10 days or so, I think you can follow their twitter #Bluebirdonbute
A few photos of restored Bluebird K7 testing. No video available as of yet....

I was asked a while back why I hadn’t done a concept of Bluebird———- Told ‘em, if you want a Bluebird——— pop up to the Lake District——- there’s hundreds of ‘em———- all shapes and sizes to suit all pockets.
I can’t compete with mass production!
Was out and about in Slindon Forest at “crack-o-sparrow” this morning with her who shall be obeyed at all times.
She was weirding the alpine downhill long walking sticks——- me, I had a pocketful of doggie biscuits, just in case I got lost in the woods as I watched her disappear into the Long distance.
After much debating with myself as to how I could avoid an excruciating two mile trek——- I ran out of ideas——- bit the bullet and strode out valiantly in hot pursuit of a rapidly disappearing Duchess.
Upshot of all this——— for the second day in a row——- I walked the two miles walk——— this time it only felt like five miles instead of the fifty of yesterday.
Caught the dog and Jilly before we reached the car park.——— no, I don’t feel better for it, my hips and arse bones ache like buggery.
Bback to thinking what the hell im going to have to do to get out of tomorrow’s marathon!
Cracked it ! —— We have Lizzie all day today, so I offered to take the pair of em to the beach this morning ———- but a two mile hike and a walk on the beach might just be too much for comfort. She agrees——— dog goes with me for a half mile walk——- I get my daily dose of a sprint instead of a marathon. You can’t beat an old fart for slyness——- Smarter than than the average !
Had a good day on the concept——- it’s looking so good, you could be forgiven for thinking that someone other than me might have done it. It’s still a couple of weeks away from completion, just need to prove to myself I can do better.
The Bluebird saga seems to have sparked plenty of interest—— a credit to Bob Smith and his team, kept it all totally authentic and original——- a rare thing these days.
Still dare to hope that one day we may get the Cosworth up and running with a Le Mans version of the DFV. Well, one can dream anyway !
Still looking for a quill shaft and that clutch system——- along with the motor, most the other bits we have.

No Kewpie Doll for guessing where I was this morning! Yup, building sand castles and tootsie cooling along with Jilly and Lizzie ——— nothing anywhere can match the skills and crafts and underhand ways of a devious old fart!
BILL Smith not Bob....Anyway- If I feel in a good frame of mind and whilst waiting for my tin of baked beans to warm up I sometime venture on to the "Pistonheads" forums to see what electronic slagging matches are occurring..
Sure enough the "50 years since Bluebird crash" is shaping up nicely...has the makings of a good one...........

Or perhaps this one...?
https://scontent-mia3-2.xx.fbcdn.net...87&oe=5C1047DF...think'n about learn'n how to skateboard...
No, I guess not——- As my sainted mother used to say—-“ you’re all mouth and trousers Jack!”.—- Somedays my mind begins to wander and I think of things like food, boats, cars, money, health, but only for a brief fleeting moment before I get back to reality and women and sex, big boobs, long legs and tight arses——— see, I’m cured!
