One of the coolest things, on the first run of the year, is to see what everyone accomplished over the winter. Some put lots of time and effort into these old boats and it really shows

how does the red with the grey stripes hydrostream run with the etec compared to the merc ?
Shooting in the dark here, but uh 260 vs. E-TEC 250...probably 1/3 of the fuel/oil usage, more torque, 10 times more reliable, and comparable if not better speed once propped right? If I'd had to guess, I'd say he's looking low 90's with current set-up at tops without banging the limiter. Haven't talked to Bill since the E-TEC went on, but I'm sure he's loving it.
'Been a while since I've been able to catch up with the Power Tour, but have kept pretty busy in the mean time. I had the pleasure of meeting another Dan O, which is the original owner of this 1986 HydroStream Vegas XT and OMC 200. This thing has seen the water very few times in the past few years and Dan decided it was time for an update. I met him this winter and got to put hands on his rig. After talking a bit, he ended up bringing it back this spring to get the Carhart glass treatment so it could be rigged with a new Mercury 300XS. She's been cored up, new transom, stringers, and subfloor. Right now, it's about to head out for some minor gel repair, but I felt it needed to be shared with the Tour as Dan will sooner than later make it to a Power Tour stop. Feast your eye's on this thing's before and after core process as it sits now.

Thanks For the kind words J.
Its for sure one Stream im looking forward to seeing done with the 300xs on the back...
I cant wait to see that vegas run with a 300xs!
I love the photos on this thread. Josh, that Vegas is simply stunning! I look back at the gelcoat work on Hydrostreams and it's pretty amazing. Their tape lines are always even and razor-sharp. I think their gelcoat work was, and is still one of the best.
I can just look at Hydrostream photos all day. I don't think any boat quite has the personality of a Hydrostream. And my favorite boat of all time, the V-King YT... Love those photos.
Greg
i had little sister with almost exact same colors. Should never sale. But it's hard to keep 3 boats in a small Chicago lot

Wow!
Pete has that boat now.And ive done some glass work in it also..Way cool.
Oh he's running a hot 260 (wintec built) on the back of it now and the words ive been told is its FAST..Ive always liked the wind screen on this hull..
5 mins into running the 260 on it.
The transom and splash well broke loss..So we added some more glass under the deckin around the splash well to beff things up..Im also sure i added transom knee braces But not positive on that one..But it all must have worked out well after that since he's never said a word to me about it...In short its just one more cool older stream to lake pound for years to come..
It should be pretty neat to say the least
Couldn't agree more; Dan made the decision to restore his Vegas that I know he went back and forth on a bit. He considered selling it and potentially buying new, but being the orignal owner since '86 and hearing some of past experiences with the boat, I couldn't let him part with it.
You can't keep 'em all unfortunately. I've been trying to wrap my head around that idea, but can't say it makes sense quite yet to me.
