So, anyone have any suggestions on a style and pitch of a prop to get a baseline? Going to be a 2002 200 fishing motor with old ingnition so you can spin up to 6500ish if needed. Cut the heads, reject as needed?

my sugestion would be to set the boat up in what ever fashion you think will work for your application, then drive it, feel it out, get comfortable with normal operation, then start making adjustments to the base line, so you really know if they make a differance or not....be safe...Hydrostreams take some seat time for proficent performances
I agree. I've never had a performance oriented boat though so I don't really know where a good baseline to start would be. From my reading I'm thinking a 24" small chopper (I *think* it will swing it) with the shaft 2.5-3 inches below the pad as a start. The go up or down (no low water PU) as needed.
Definitely not a small ear chopper. 25 tempest would be a good starting prop.
I've got a real nice 25 tempest. Capt. is right, choppers like to be surfaced. I can send pics of the tempest, 200. plus the ride. 941 544 8187

And on a semi related note... How high can I run a stock lower with a few holes plugged? At the speeds I can realistically reach with my "stock" 200 motor I don't feel I'd gain anything but putting a low water pickup and jacking it up. Or can I?
Ok, got a 25 tempest on the way. And I guess I need to order a nose cone/low water pickup...
Well, seems now working a deal for the motor that's on the boat also. It's a 2.4 200 with a ton of work. Boats run low 80s with it.
I'm a fan of the 2.4 200, I had a bone stock one on my Vector, I ran a best of 86.1 with a 28 small ear @ 6900. Just MAKE SURE you have water pressure!
I love the 2.4 carbed motors on old boats, its like they were made for each other. :)
So I got my hands on a good 3.0 liter carb 225. I'm thinking the extra torque might be nice with the large Vulture hull.
From my reading I can mod a 20" opti mid to fit it fairly easy. It also has a torque master lower unit. Will the factory low water pickups be sufficient with a few of the upper intake holes plugged or should I nose cone it?
