You do all the design work by hand? Wow that takes time to do as nice as you have. I have seen painters that used a computer reverse cutout decal (tape) for the intricate work.

I am taping everything by hand. Been doing it for 38 years. No point in starting a new way now. I do it by myself. Not enough volume to invest in a computer cutter. Besides, using a computer is kinda like cheating!
Killer! Definitely love these threads and Randy, you're the king of epicness when it comes to this.

For a coon dog from Florida you can match and beat the best gel coaters from out West.
I finished the taping today and sprayed the blue and purple. It's hard to see what it will look like until I untape it tomorrow.
What do you use to draw the outline on the hull?
I don't draw anything. I just do it free-hand as I go. Just kinda do it by eye!
I thought you drew the design on the boat and then taped. So you just go right to taping?
What clear have you had good results with. Some I have used cure on the soft side and handle hull flex well. Others cure really hard and crack when flexed
Can it handle some flex? Next project is a light layup v- drive big block drag boat. Hull flexes alot and spider cracked last paint job 1st time out. Not sure what last guy used for clear
He is better with that thin tape and his hand then I could ever hope to be with a marker. I have seen him tape up a whole boat and then change his mind-starts all over and lays it out again. Randy is the real deal for clean cut, no paint ridge, and perfect finish.
