I can't believe anyone continues to fall for this...
"100 mph tested" means they test the bare jacket by crashing a test sled into it at 100 mph "government style." In other words, they throw the jacket against a wall at 100 mph to make sure none of the embroidery, lace ruffles or sequins come undone. ;)
It does NOT mean that the jacket will protect the person wearing it at 40 mph.

Can't figure out how it can do that w/o leg straps, but if the rating is true it makes up what I understand is the big complaint about ski or jetski vests.

I have been wearing the Mustang 100 mph vest for lake boating since 1996. Back then they were $175. I have been pitched from a boat at 60mph (with vest and helmet on) and I am still wearing the vest with succes today. I would still recommend the SRP or Lifeline for lake or other racing as the collar on these vests will float your head... I have also added leg straps to the Mustang.
Why is the lifeline not USCG approved?
I would have to think it boils down to cost. I am in the market for a nice high speed jacket, I think I will go with the lifeline 160. Kurt
All of that lifejacket crap is not really going to help if you break your neck when you hit the water or if I'm paralyzed I would rather be dead.
