the ONLY boat I would replace my Triad with is a Tuff
There is a grandsport in my boathouse (friends boat), there is more room in the Tuff. Though, the Grandsport is slightly deeper the cockpit is smaller, and the cabin...area under the deck is A LOT smaller.
Tuff21
Progression22
Activator 22
superboat 21
The TRiad and the Allison should be faster but can't handle the rough water nearly the same.
I have a 24 progression and if I went with a 21-22 it would be a progression or Tuff.
I personally think, that a Tuff 21 will run toe to toe at topend with the Grandsport and maybe even the Triad V21. In the SOB class it IS pound for pound the fastest. I have been in all of the mentioned boats, and I know that the SOB's will EAT the Triad or Allison in the rough... and they are A LOT stronger boats.

what was it you told me Rob?......twin 280's, speedmasters, and nitrous=:D :D :D
add a carbon kevlar infused epoxy layup to that!
The GS essentially hits a wall at 105 +/-. Haven't really tried to push mine any further, but with a stock 260 it'll do just that, 105 mph. ;) (And that's solo without a whole lot of stuff in it. :p 102 with 2 people and 99 and change with 3)
With a 300X or XS, I'm guessing the Tuff isn't far off that.
Yup, No Tuff has ever been setup to run BIG numbers, but with a 300X they run around 104 with a stock Bravo prop. At FULL weight, I suspect with a light weight hull and some propwork it would run over 110. And lightwwight doen't mean weak, it would be just as stong or stronger.... your wallet would be light too though.
how much cash are you able to drop at a 21`?
thats one thing you must look at
a 21 tuff or a 22 progression are not cheap $65,000-$70,000
everything new cover motor prop trailer and so on.
dont get me wrong there great boats but alot of money
if you can find a 21 superboat and but a good motor on it
then you will be in the high 80s and 1/2 the price
and one thing about a 21 foot boat
it takes alot of seat-time to run any boat at any great speeds
you dont just point the boat and go like you
would a skater.
and if your worried about insurence any 21` with a 300 hp
will be hard to get
Pound for Pound - Dollar for dollar - The Hydrostream Vegas will run with any of these boats on this thread you might have to give up a few inches but for price looks and HP capacity you can not beat it.
The Venom is race proven hull that will out run any Superboat Progressin Allisson Triad anything !! It is the Fastest easiest to drive V bottom on the market!! Killer looks and out of the hole will leave all these boats standing there, The Venom will even run side by side with the Liberator Skater of Trick with equal power. I own one and maybe I am biased but this boat runs!!

Let me get my boots its getting deep now. :D thats a pretty bold statement
Just when I thought you were coming to your sences you go and pull this one. The venom will not outrun all Allisons or Triads
just curious as to the faster , larger , more freeboard style boats. I know allisons, venoms, even older vhull hydrostreams, etc are fast, if i wanted something fast and cheap, i'd get a hydrostream virage with my promax it would do 100 easily, easy to drive,,,,but it 's not going to give me the ride that a 21 deeper v hull will. I do agree on the price, just talked to Mark at tuff, got a price on a hull rigged for my motor.....prob more than i want to spend on a 3rd boat. A used velocity would prob fit the bill for how much i would use it, and of course i know it won't do 100mph. Thanks for the input on the boats. I really liked the older apache that was for sale on here a while back, i just didn't have access to a covered garage for storage like i do now.
