No port diff?
I would think something had to change for merc to rate it @ 20 more hosses and yet spin an alternator?

I've owned both. 280 also has higher stock compression.
Keep in mind, it was rated at 260 in 91' by time the A48 digital box came along dyno's were showing much improvement.
But from what I know, slightly better exhaust chest, lower exhaust port timing and 15 to 20#s more compression.

It’s funny to read posts from that long ago. Everybody but 1badaction was hating on the ole 280.....now it’s what everybody wants lol. Who’d of thunk Jim knows his stuff?! :D
