I have never tried pulling a skier with my boat, although that being said im sure it would do it. Just no interest.

Im running a 28 TE Cleaver, engine height is adjustable, propshaft was almost level with the bottom of the boat for the 98 run. 6" of Setback.

I would predict 65 - 70 mph range, assuming the motor etc are up to scratch, and the engine height etc was spot on. You said 2" lift, wheres the propshaft in relation to the bottom of the boat? Do you have low water pickup gearbox? This allows much greater engine height and in turn more speed.

Get a low water pickup box, cleaver prop, and wind that moor right up... Then she will start moving.

Let me know if your after a gearbox, i have a cle for sale.

Cav Plate is 2 inches above the pad on the bottom of the hull. 65 - 70 will do me fine..that was my reckoning too..The thing has been set up for skiing by the previous owner ie stainless ski tripod on the back, all the fittings for barefoot/learner bar, ski mirror etc.

I bought it as a ski boat - obviously one with a nice turn of pace. Just want to stick to the 308/350 brigade is all :D

Get yourselves down to Corio this weekend (Sunday Feb 18) for the offshore races. My mate is entering a 1650 Bullet with 175hp merc (only if it is not blowing over 15 knots):D Also Ian, if your coming to Mulwala PM me if you would like to meet us there one day. We spend a fair bit of time testing and running over there. The junction boat ramp at Bundalong is about the best place in victoria to run a boat at the moment. Have to agree with Adam, if you want to get it goin' Jack it up, prop it and hang on:D As for Skiing keep the 21 Laser. A Prop change is not hard and doesn't take long. a hydraulic jacking plate would make things a little easier but my mate turns a 27 spinelli (spelling?) to get it to go and screws on a 23 laser to go skiing.He probably should drop the motor to do this because it ventilates a bit on holeshot but once it's up it's fine.
As for Go the aussie bullets, don't you mean try and "CATCH THE AUSSIE BULLETS" LOL

Looks like this thread is catching on and all of us Aussie nutters are coming out of the woodwork. Wingboatnut - I'll PM you re Mulwala. Heading up Thursday week (22nd) and staying to Sunday. Sounds like Corio may be the place to take a drive to this Sunday.

Cobalti's right. Even my 11' wingboat with 25 toey and 18" exhaust over chopper is smokin most mid mounted inboards. Some of these 308/350 blokes reckon they go pretty well until a 25hp comes sailing past and hoses em down. I'm pulling 88 km/hr all day long with my 105kg in the seat and it absolutly shatters some of these inboard blokes to be beat by a fishing motor. I know were talkin about bullets here but i'll back it in i've got the fastest 25hp in oz. if it wasn't for the nitwits of the tassie apba i'm pretty sure my 25kg lighter mate would have steered it to an aus kilo record by now. Sorry didn't mean to get carried away but all i can say is my username should tell the story. As for the bullets, well when i grow up..............:D

I know I'll have no probs whatsoever hosing most non racing inboards - Just reckon that its great fun thats all :D

G'day Adam,

Was supposed to be heading to Mulwala today but when I took it for service on Monday - well one pot wasnt too happy. Long story short I've decided get it rebuilt ie rebored, new pistons, carbies rebuilt, slight compression increase etc, rather than just band aid one cylinder. Should be finished Tuesday or Wednesday next week and then I'm heading to Mulwala on Thursday to run in my "new" motor.

Thats the theory anyway......

Ian did you get to corio to see a 1650 lightweight outlast two other production class boats and take second?:eek: i know it didn't look too spectacular, trimmed in and keeping it upright but it was driven sensibly and did not break. it may be at Williamstown Sunday for second round, if of course it's not blowin' like a bastard. sorry too read about that lazy cylinder but sounds like your on the right track, not using bandaids.:D
