I thought they only raced in Singapore twice, and twice the government was ripped off.
Then after many years they had a nations cup and guess what, the promoter pocketed the money once again and left unpaid bills

I I went to Singapore on a number of occasions, Fonda were racing the two litre series------we never ever "ripped off" either the government or any one else pilgrim! From memory I would say we held the Singapore GP at least five times.
I have no idea who raced there after Parkinson and I retired !
Cees and San Germano took over the series after the OMC series went tits up, by this time politics had reared its ugly head!
You only have to look at FIFA, Blatter and co. To imagine what went on in our sport, so why am I not surprised the Singapore Government was ripped off?
Let me tell you Pilgrim-----Fonda always played with a straight bat.
Been up to my fetlocks in garden furniture today, dismantled the sun awning and all the poles and Guy ropes. Cleared away the pool chairs and tables, place almost feels naked without the summer trimmings, no good saying summers over-----it has to start before it can end-----were still waiting!
Spent the morning in the shop on the sailboat, think I want to make this into a galleon, or as close to my idea of a galleon as I'm capable of.
Sorry jackie it would have been after fonda
Thats ok Pilgrim, just wanted to set the record straight. Parkinson was the most honest individual ever to promote a boat race, he just got tired of all the UIM double dealings. If you ever get to Tavares I'll give you a full set of the five newsletters Fonda published, you may get some idea of what we were up against !
Main aim was to set a level playing field with a set formula so drivers and owners didn't get caught up in the factory developments ie:2:4. Then 2:5. Then 3 litres, then 4 litres then of course unlimited capacity, which Was a recipe for disaster for the sport we all loved.
Enough of all this, I'm getting on the high horse again.
Had time to notice the abundance of blackberries in the hedgerows this year, bigger and blacker than I remember, birds are crapping purple all over the Lexus!
Been raining all night but it's slowly clearing----still as a mill pond with enough blue sky to make a sailor a pair of shorts.
Should get a full day in the shop, it looks like a pig sty, had my head down and arse up and not bothered to do a clear up and blow down for a couple of weeks !
Looked through the metal bins for three masts for the galleon but I need a forage at the "recycling facility ----"scrap yard" to you and me.
Free practice in Singapore today, usually sets the tone for how the actual race will pan out. Lewis just needs to take it easy and finish, but he's never going to do that. Sennas record is coming next, 41 victories, one more to equal that !
Weekend almost here again, halfway through September, autumn creeping in, we seem to have skipped summer this year, apart from the two hot and clear days we had in July----Sei la vie ?
Sorry Jackie:
He may be a great driver, but your home boy is sporting too much bling, hairdo, and hip hop edge to ever resonate with me. Herr Rosberg is starting a family and acting like a professional. Sadly, he seems to make two or three gaffes per race and that is the difference at present, plus if you have the highest paid rap star....err driver in the world on your team, which one do you think is going to get the best bits?.
Bottom line...the guy to watch is Vettel, who has out performed both of them, and that new teenager who should be code named "Balls of Steel".
Rich, we ain't never gonna agree about Vettel, the only time he ever won was when he had the best car with Chris Horner in his corner feeding him all the way.
Webber was never the IN driver at Red Bull,, he had to play second fiddle to Seb all the time he was there, agree he's not a bad driver, but Hamilton for all his faults and shenanigans will drive him under the table any day of the week and he makes the Merc look better than it actually isn't!
Fell asleep with my face in the iPad, bit like a baby falling into its dinner when it's overtired. stayed up until late watchin the opening game of the World Cup. England versus Fiji, was a bruising encounter, they are big buggers, We hacked out a win, scored four tries which gave us the bonus point. We have forty eight games over the next six weeks, live on TV, so I reckon we'll all be sick to the eye teeth of rugby by then.
Qualifying in Singapore tonight, should be a lot closer, all the teams have upgrades. Renault got their act together, Ferrari have a good package, Williams have been strong all season, and McLaren and Honda may just have made progress.
Will wander into Yapton to the recycling facility and see what goodies I can pull out of the bin.
Off up to Harlow to visit Ivan, Jills eldest boy, takes about four hours to do the round trip.
Can have about four hours in the shop, then sleep for an hour, leave here about two and get back here around nine.
Spoke with Gary yesterday, he tells me the next race is Clearwater, He's done some upgrades for Key west. pity it clashes with Tavares, that means Craig has to work and will not be playing in the OFF tournament.
Sorry I fell asleep before I could do you a night time update, will try and do better as the school report says.
Remember what Socrates once said, "the only thing I know for certain , is that I know nothing".
What did I tell you Rich, Ferrari and Renault used up a big chunk of their development tokens, improvements are significant. Honda made huge strides, Alonso wound up ninth. Mercedes have used up ALL-their tokens for this year. Both Ferrari and Renault have ten and twelve tokens left, so the last few races will be VERY interesting.
Japan pulled off one of the biggest upsets in rugby history to beat South Africa, one of the favourites to win the World Cup..Its all happening over here at the minute.
Got tangled up watching the world cop rugby matches with Ivan, Jilly decided we were staying the night.,you do not argue with the kitchen goddess on a Saturday night, unless you have no desire to see Sunday morning !
Should be a very good race, Ferrari front row, Red Bull next with Mercedes third row of the grid, two Ferraris should be long gone by the first corner. Vettel has won here three times, some of the best drivers in the world in front of Lewis, it all makes for "exciting biting."
JusT as I thought Lewis was going to make a name for himself, bloody car lets him down.Still, he can't complain too loudly , he's had a reasonably trouble free ride all year. , looks like this is Vettels race.
