That's one beautiful piece. What happens if you win?
Found the camera, right where I left it.
Once a month the " Foot quack" comes to the house, scraping ,cutting, filing and disinfecting our feet, I sit on the easy chair in the sun room and stick my foot out onto the guys knee and he starts the performance, which means I am lying almost prone-----this means my wallet, phone and camera fall out of my pocket And down into the depths of the upholstery. Three hours before I realised the cameras missing-----never did miss the phone and wallet until I found them.
Getting close to 90 already ----went to the car boot this morning just gone seven----forecast is for thunderstorms Saturday so the world and his granny decides to get there before me--result--total chaos. Foraged for an hour but never found the lamp or the lost Rembrandt -----did find a rake of sealed bearings that I blagged for a fiver, but very little else. Nap time, will show you some of Jilly's work later.
Attachment 301654Attachment 301655Attachment 301656Attachment 301657Attachment 301658
These are just a couple of Jilly's works-----she's the real artist-----I just pretend.
Attachment 301659Attachment 301660Attachment 301661Attachment 301662
Told you her indoors was good ------This time I didn't lie.
These are all upstairs, on the landing and in the bedroom.
she offered one as first prize for the golf tourney, told her the cost of posting to the US was horrendous, so forget it!!!
What a night! Thunder and lightning in large portions, hot and humid, one or two really heavy showers, not a lot of sleep.
Went to bed worried about the fall out from the Malaysian aircraft brought down over the Ukraine.10Brits and over 20 US citizens. Ruskies already have the black box, so that can be altered to suit. Rebels blame the Soviet and they say it was viccy-Verdi , nobody wants to take the blame for this one. Worlds leading Aids scientists on board too-----all going to a conference in Australia.
There will be a cover up of gigantic proportions, everyone pussyfooting, Putin the first to shout out,
attack being the best form of defence---President Obama being "Diplomatique" Cameron yet to call it. Lot of snot and gore flying today!!!
Me myself cleaned and treated the pool----it's at 84 degrees, entirely due to the heat wave---buffed off and did it from in the pool----that don't often happen! Woke up this morning with aches and pains and protesting muscles, have to get me a pool boy in future. Trouble is ---the buggers don't work for less than £10 an hour----and I never yet met one that could get a wriggle on, it's a lazy thing, cleaning a pool!
The hoards arrive this weekend---in large portions----yes schools out and the first wave are staying over with us for a week -----next door there's a lamb roast on Saturday, then Sunday it's my turn to Barbee, let's just see what transpires. Talk lunchtime.
Attachment 301723Attachment 301724Attachment 301725Attachment 301726
Will look at the news later and see if we have A SITUATION, meanwhile here's another couple of Jilly's paintings------she can do anything ----animals----people----countryside or town, all out of her head..
Just had a quick look at the news.
Ruskies got their missile launcher back home safely, but not before the Ukes filmed them doing it, interesting to see how soon they produce the black box( if they ever do, too many questions to answer there.).
All the top dogs are bristling and growling but not one of them dare to bark yet.
There are no JFK's in the world any more so Putin can crap where he wants!!!
Had my nap-----time to rhumba !!!
OK so Obama barked from behind the fence----what will he do----threaten sanctions which mean in reality bugger all----Cameron is hanging on to Obama's shirt tails and muttering unfair but has no balls, Merkel is just monitoring the situation and doing nothing.
Putin is laying low and distancing himself from the mercineries the soviets funded to overrun Ukraine and did the deed-on the Malaysian aircraft.
Now the black box and the missile launcher and the mercineries are back in the Soviet Union, Putin is holding all the aces, question is, what will we do about it,?
Answer----shout and scream----but no action !,,,!
JW...I'm sat here suppin' my tea in slow measured style reading your reports from the front--It occurred to me you might be better off roofing over that pool and creating an air raid shelter what does the deep end measure??.
You are right about JFK though...
Sh-t hasn't hit the fan yet Ron, but it's going to, just amazes me how long it takes to feel the bullet once it's hit you, shock, disbelief, not possible, horror, omg, long time after comes what the hell we going to do now ?
Most of you will read this and think , silly old bugger, what's he on about, well I hope I'm wrong but I know I'm not, Putin's testing the water to see how far he dare go and who it is who steps up to the plate,? Aren't we all???
Worlds biggest chess game is about to begin, most civilised countries are now involved.
80 children dead.
10 British
24 U S. citizens.
untold number of Dutch.
Ukraine blames Russia---soviets blame Ukraine----only thing is, Ukraine does not have ground to air missiles, guess who does.
All over the world Foreign Diplomats have been put on high alert, now the chess game begins.
Time for me to get off the pot, I'm not qualified to comment on this further, so thanks for your attention, but I will not be posting any more views on this subject.
Let me tell you about today .
got really stuck into creating stuff and nonsense, am well on the way with four "HEYLANGO'S as you all know by now, these are Swedish trolls, fondly remembered by hard drinking Swedish folk when they hit the "AQUAVITE .
Have a very good friend MR Runo Cronström, retired Swedish naval surgeon and art affecianado , collector of HEYLANGO'S -----He already has a few of my attempts skulking around his place in Ronneby and more in his house in Bouzigues .
Was too hot to work for long this afternoon, so I smoked in the pool ( bloody stupid spellcheck, that should read SOAKED )-----got friggin sunburned didn't i------what a Pratt ----82 and still posing, didn't notice it 'till I got in the shower------did step a bit lively when the warm water hit.
Doing the Saturday car boot if it's not too wet and windy------really bad forecast for tonight and tomorrow-----if it's that bad I'll just roll over and have an extra hour in bed.
See Hamilton and Rosberg head the Friday practice board at Hockenhiem, but Red Bull have finally made progress-----maybe it won't be a two horse race after all.
beddy byes, MYGGWY . J
Man did that ever chuck it down at the car boot!!!
Got there by seven but it was already raining cats and dogs and most folk didn't even set out the stall.
Found a 'lectric radiator for the conservatoire -----who the hell buys an electric oil filled rad. in July? I did ---for £3, not such a pratt after all.
Will watch qualifying, see who does the biz today-----pole is not ALL important at hockenhiem---- there are plenty of passing opportunities.
The hoardes will overrun us by noon-----could be the last report before bedtime, have a nice day!!!!!!!
Jack, check that the thermostat! make sure #1 it works #2 you set it to a pleasing number-- The reason those bangers go cheap is not because of the colour but because if they are not happy the hottest place in your tent will be the meter cupboard.......I know I was that soldier..Phill ( Electrician 1964-On)
Well, now there's a coincidence, Germany win the World Cup, Rosberg gets wed, can't spoil Der Fadderlands party by having a flaming Englander pissing on the parade, let's just interfere a little, do a brake job. It is just coincidental of course that Hamilton has four failures to just one for Rosberg . Maybe I'm a little cynical, but hey this is a sport----isn't it? Pit lane is not a bad place to start!
Been to a great party tonight at one off my neighbours house! Along with over 500 others, will post piccies tomorrow----for a small village, Walberton is one swinging community, I'm bushed, MYGGWY. J.
Attachment 301833Attachment 301834
This is was the gathering of the village folk for a hoedown on a nice July evening. Music was supplied by Willy Austin---a group that has been around since Pontius was a Pilate -but just as good today.
It was in aid of terminally ill kids in the county.
Great evening, enjoyed by one and all.
Its today the hoards arrive, so gotta rise and shine and prepare for the little darlings .
Was that ever a wonder of a sunday----noon and they came, kids in need of a swim , other relations and the dog, gold labrador turned up, of course the bloody dog joined the kids in the pool-----damn near drowned-----thought labs were born to swim. This ones a right wuzz i can tell you, had to be rescued by a bunch of 8--12 year old girls, i would have left it at the bottom of the pool, dopey bloody animal. Hamilton did a bit of damage limitation and topped up third-----lost a bunch of points-----will have to get his act together in the next few races, needs to be well in front before the final race double points fiasco.
Mc Ilroy ground out a win in the masters, but went the plain hard way to do it, just par the course with maybe the odd birdie and let the others play catch up----it only just worked though, Garcia and Fowler put him through the mill. Still , on the whole with 3 wonderful rounds he just about deserved it----if he gets his head down and arse in gear he could be chasing Jack Nicholas. I know you can never rule out Tiger but he's been all show and no go for too long now, with all the young talent out there, he's missed the boat.
Kids are all in bed and after 7 hours in the pool [which was at 84/86] they should be asleep until 9 am tomorrow [i hope]
I did a stonking Barbee-- corn on cob---chipolatas----english pork bangers -----chicken kebabs-----Coupe de grace is my barbee'd butterfly lamb in chinese sauce, melt in your mouth and slides down like Glenfidditch single malt, pure essence!!!!!!! Jilly did a bucket sized jug of PIMMS to get things off to a tolerable start---- Good day was had by one and all----will probably bore you with a couple of piccies, haven't done a download yet.
Of course there's more to come, and like i told you before i can always fill in with the odd joke or three --------just to keep your attention.
On a train from London to Manchester to watch the cricket, an Aussie was berating an englishman sitting opposite him in the compartment,
You English are too stuffy-----you set yourselves apart too much, you think the stiff upper lip puts you above the rest of us ------look at me he says -----i'm ME------I have Italian Blood, Greek blood and a little Irish-----and a touch of Aborigine------WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THAT??
Englishman looks him in the eye and says----AWFULLY SPORTING OF YOUR MOTHER OLD CHAP!!!!!!!
Yeah well you could use the same tale with Neufies, Pollocks, or Irish -----sometimes you have to improvise----'till someone complains bitterly, I'll keep slipping the odd joke in now and again, (I got a million)
Thats the dopey Labrador that sank like a stone, divers were sent down to retrieve said dopey animal-----happy ending-----it's alive and well, and yes, it swims in the sea regularly, owner is a lifeboat coxswain , and don't ask me why----maybe it was the kids or the chlorine-----what do I know !!! Enough of all this-----sandmans calling, MYGGWY.J.
Attachment 301883
I blame S&F----they're having a mad fit of depression----last two posts, I've been a senior thingy ---then a freakin screaming --------and you think I got a problem.
Monday, Monday, just love that day, who remembers Momma CASS ?
6.30 and the suns well up---forecast 26/28C-----top 80/s to colonials, all's quiet on the kids bedroom front----they were well KNACKERED after a whole day in the pool. Finally dragged them out at 8.00 pm, accompanied by the usual screams of " that's not fair", any wonder I still want to clip 'em round the ear---or at very least "five lace holes". Patience old chap I keep telling myself, tolerance and understanding!!----my nasty little inner self says-----Bollocks, give ' em a slap-----but that's not PC these days is it.
Jilly' s going to take them to the beach today---10 minutes to Bognor Regis or Littlehampton----both towns been taken over by Eastern Europeans, Slavs --Poles----Ukes and the like----they even have their own supermarket----whole streets of Polish shops-----just like Warsaw-----except this is the south of England -----different to when I was a lad.
Murphy spent the day hiding from the dopey Lab. She gets really miffed at the intrusion and goes right off the pair off us for a couple of days, sulks as only a female can.
Right, let battle commence----bring it on----just told 'em I'm in the workshop today ----that went down like a turd in the punch bowl-----have a great day---I shall.
By the cringe---can today's kids ever eat or what? I would sooner feed my grand kids for a day than a week---the amounts they consume are mind blowing one of the grand kids had THREE CHEESEBURGERS with all the trimmings. How the hell can twelve people polish off
two dozen burgers? Answer is----if just four of them are today's kids!!
Dad left his two girls £40 spending money $70,
Jesus H Christ-----I had a paper round seven days a week, rain or shine----before school and after school----got paid £1 per week and felt rich----------forty feckin quid-----that's damn near a years wages. I wouldn't mind, but they buy the biggest load of rubbish imaginable .
This is only day two and I'm going to have to dig into the inner resources if I am to survive .
They all leave crack-o-sparrow for "fishers farm"-----I shall repair to the workshop and lock the bloody door------never realized what a peaceful haven that is----even with machines in full song, it's a damn. Sight quieter than a houseful of kids. It's hard to remember what it was like when it was just Jilly and me.
Not all sparks are pub uglies!!....Don,t think Don would have sat still for a rozzer signing on do you?? even for the 1/2 voyage...
Jack get yerself over to the AUTOSPORT "Nostalgia" Forum-- there's a thread running on Racing boats with car engines....go to it your public awaits......
10pm and the last one in bed, and only then when I told her to turn out the light as me myself was going to bed-----14 years old and she was on her blasted I phone from 8 until 10------never got out of the pool until 8. Still , the little darlings didn't awaken 'till 9.30 am today----had a family size packet of Kellogg's for breakfast EACH!!!! I was already working magic in the shop long before then. Show you some of the outcomes tomorrow. May have to find useful employment and go back to work to pay the grocery bill.
Watched them in the pool this afternoon and was reminded of the pool we used to swim in during the war-----a worked out stone quarry, fifty foot deep, with a dive board that used to be the crane platform for hoiking the rocks out. During the summer (which always seemed hot) all the kids gathered and taught each other to swim. Nearest public swimming baths were Brighouse or Halifax and cost sixpence which none of us could afford anyway.
As I have gotten older, the memories are getting clearer, the first motorbike, first girlfriend, first car, first marriage, first kid----I'd better stop right there before you all start yawning on me and drop off to sleep, MYGGWY.J.
Rossi had a built in dislike of policemen---were you in Paris when the gendarme and him got into it, with Don holding the said policeman over the river Sienne and telling him to back off or he would drop him in?
As for half voyages----me myself went on that particular voyage for 38 years before changing wives, this one has only been 20 years up to now, and honest to murgatroyd I have no intention of ever changing again.
Autosport "nostalgia"forum, Nah, I don't think so Phil, I got enough to do keeping this thread half readable. Between kid sitting, my workshop, setting the world to rights " Diplomatically " and S&F, my days pretty much taken care of, but thanks for mentioning it.
A new day dawns and I don't want to miss it-------besides I want to have showered, eaten, and got out into the shop before the little darlings are awake.
Hate to say I told you so---but Cameron was the first to have the balls to compare Putin to the nazis and demand BIG sanctions.
Obama stood up two hours later but without much enthusiasm.
Putin did not use his veto at the UN, as the world would have seen him for what he is, a warmonger.
Now all the civilised world is clamouring for action and sanctions.
The black boxes have been suitably tampered with and are handed back.
After losing nearly 200 souls, Holland is making noises and will get mad.
Maybe the world will unite and jump on Putin very hard------but I doubt it.
I can only apologise for bringing this subject up again, but I feel quite strongly about it----kids did try.
Mystery to me is why MI5 and Langley didn't wake up sooner, and take the bastards out 2minutes after they shot the plane down-------------they would have in the film!
If u tube is believable then they can sit at a 'puter in Arizona and pinpoint a rabbit in the Ukraine and pick it off with a single shot-----why not terrorist factions?
Obama is scraping the bottom of the barrel even talking to that Pratt Ed Milliband----all time loser and well known parasite--total nobody and destined to ever be so. Never made a decision in his life--if he ever did he would get it wrong!,
K,Lumper is the latest hotspot, expect riots there, Istanbul next, Ukraine does not want to be under Putin. Trouble ahead methinks. World is slowly wakening.
Cameron calls on France for support in the sanctions front------Putin has two aircraft carriers coming from France , so there won't be any loud noises made by the frogs----flogging a dead horse there I'm afraid. Putin calls on his cronies for support for the Ukraine militants---this is the real Russian roulette. Wake up everyone, this is not just sabre rattling.
Time for me to get off "life's roundabout" for a while----- put the soapbox away and just tell you what's going on in my neck of the woods-----the stuff I get up to and the people I meet. This thread is about old boaters and tricks they get up to, I just wandered off the beaten track a little, sorry'bout that.
made a dozen "Halen gars"today, these are Swedish drinking trolls all from the Vodka and AQUAVITE tribes ----did take some pictures so you would be suitably impressed, but me being me, I left the camera in the workshop, so no piccies till tomorrow .
Wednesday is the last day for the first wave of kids, Thursday we have the posh wedding, where I get to wear the "Armani". Free days Friday and Saturday before the next wave moves in, lucky the weather is set fair to well into August, so they can swim in the pool all day long.
not a lot to rabbit on about, and it's too soon to tell another joke so TA-TA for now, MYGGWY .J
Attachment 302012Attachment 302013Attachment 302014
Up up about six to make the early morning " cuppa" so opened up the shop and retrieved the camera-----here's the promised piccies to start off the day. Just wanted to prove I have not been sat on my posterior-----all part of the Swedish Collection for my good friend Runo Cronström .
Aquavites come in all sizes and are coloured from pale yellow to deep brown, and like humans, come in various shapes,( dependant on age ).
There are two main tribes------the Vodka and AQUAVITE ----lesser tribes are, Dill ,Corriander, Anise, mint and fennel.
Trolls are peculiar to Scandinavia, but are much sought after by avid collectors worldwide and are very addictive.
Should you have any experience of the " Halen Gars" please let me know.j.

Attachment 302059Attachment 302062Attachment 302063Attachment 302063Attachment 302064Attachment 302065 Sorry ' bout that Johnno, can't get the staff these days-----was a time when you could rely on the management -----promise I did post the piccies------mutilation set in at the offices of S&F.
Two pictures the same -----I have to hold my hand up, I was getting a bit impatient (as I do) and pressed the upload button twice, you could die and go to heaven and back whilst the pics are UPLOADING.
Those are the "Halen Gars" , darker ones are "Cinnamon Vodka"------Lighter ones are " Citron AQUAVITE " minor tribes are the Vodka Vanillas and Rose petal AQUAVITE , there are literally hundreds of these marauding tribes. Collective name for them is "SCHNAPPS"-----beware, they sneak up on you when you least expect it.
Have mounted them all, some are freestanding , others are wall mounted.
Will print off their war cry (if anyone's interested)?
...that's some good looking wood there you are working with Brother. I have a Pecan orchard and also some Mesquite that I work from time to time, but have nothing that looks like that. have some slabs of Pecan in the garage stacked up I can make some table tops out of....but haven't gotten around to it yet as I have been working on the old Contender.
Good morning Pilgrim only time I came across Mesquite was at the "PONDEROSA" restaurant , they were chucking it on to the Bar-B-Q.
Guess that pecan must be a tad similar to Walnut----very dark brown heart.
If you get a half chance send me a picture of both woods, I would appreciate that, a shot of the old Contender would be a good idea too,J.
IMHO everytime a satellite was needed they dont work...cant find pirates in the Indian Ocean, cant find weapons of mass destruction being shipped around.
Cant see very dangerous missile launchers driving from Russia to the Ukraine etc etc.
just what are they looking at...
Damned governments have taken enough money out of the economy to ensure there are more satellites than stars, but there a bit like buses-----theres never one there when you need it----then two come along empty.
Don't believe in James Bond anymore----no such thing as 007 ------ if he was for real he would have sorted this before it evan began.
Superman where the hell have you hibernated to? [probably still knocking off Lois Lane]

Thats me and the ARMANI and the groom.
thats the six hundred year old Hampshire manor house where the wedding was held.
Thats my table placing just in case you didn't believe I got invited to a posh wedding.
'it's very late and I'm "cream crackered" ----talk tomorrow, MYGGWY .J.
