Don't let him fool ya ... :nonod:
That's the best 396 I gotz .. It's been in over a 100 cars . Door cars , dragsters and alterds . Helped win more than a half a dozen championships . Helped cars go 6.0's / 220 + . Has never blown up . Holds more than 100 cig butts in each bank . Has done mobile chassis set-up work and earned more money than all other motors that I own to date . On it's last return trip home .. ( I really thought the blindfold trick would work ) it got left out in the rain and snow .. well it was cold a day or two ... and now has found a new job as a cup holder / door stop ... :D
Wanted .... good home for my old door stop ... house broken , eats very little , 6061 x .500 , sharpened only once about 20 years ago .. answers to the name spike .. >

Bum , I saw where you say you recommend "dancing in the sun" ;)
Would you happen to be the guy who "owns the Midnight Express" or maybe works for him .. ?
Funny I watched that show once and said *^%$%&* rookies ... :D
I have a slab of 2" Blanchard ground steel I had plans of making a large precision fixturing table out of some day , if I ever figure out how to lift it again .. :o
My daughter in law tells me she is afraid to even touch a butter knife in her house . She says my son goes thru five of six steps that ends in a barbers strop ... I have no idea where he would get that from ... ;)
I worked for Sundance many years ago (just before Hurricane Andrew), joe was ok to work for, but Andrew called my name and I had a 18 hour a day, 7 days a week job for 1 year, made oodles of cash.............
The Midnight express was launched where I work, they went out for pictures and came back sheepishly.........
as for the Blanchard.... get someone who has a crane with one of those big magnets to come lift it for ya
Back in the day , it seemed that every boat mechanic up this way has either worked for the OMC test center or Mitch or both at one time or other in their careers .
His Midnight was the first boat in Martin county with three 3.0L motors . Actually seeing how they ran , I bought one from him in 1996 . has always treated me fair .
See , I have this problem . I'm not allowed to go to the scrap yard anymore :o I just can't be trusted . Instead of taking drop's , cut-off's , chips , broken castings , filings , drill curl's , etc , and coming back with cash ..... :nonod: I usually come back with less money and chunks of aluminum and alloy steels that the engineers and supervisors of our aerospace and defense contractors haphazardly broom out the door .... ;)
The would be table was one of those trips . It came on the back of a roll back truck .. slid off and over against the wall ... covered and never to be seen again .
I guess I could dig the ton of metal out from in front of it . Cut the roof trusses and ceiling off the building far enough back to get the cable down ..... I recon I'll make do with the tables I already gotz ... :smiletest:
Just think'a all the stuff we could'a done with duck tape and zip ties instead'a baillin'wire back in the 50's & 60's!!!
and black tape instead of zip ties.
Attachment 400269found this on a junkyard engine I just got for the L/U. A bleach bottle cap? Turns out it the dam thing runs good! Had a big grin standing in that huge cloud of blue smoke:D

This one is just a general lack of understanding engineering
