Engineers added the extra 4 degrees, just in case a mechanic needs to reach down, with his hand, between the heads and retrieve a bolt or nut.

Okay maybe not, but I encountered tightening nuts/bolts with such little space to turn a wrench, that I would have paid the design engineer for an extra 4 degrees of clearance.

All motorsports are in the same position. Nothing is cheap anymore but it sure seems better in many cases.
