FUJIMO,
I hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas and day of celebration. Thank you for all your continued content on the board. Have a safe and happy continuance of the remaining holiday season and New Year.
Joe
In April of 1978 a good friend and I drove to St. Louis hoping to buy Michael's yellow & white #286 for me to run SE class here in Canada with a Merc 650 XS.
By the time we got there Bill told me Michael didn't want him to sell this boat so I bought another Seebold SE hull that Bill had available.
#515 is Jim Caldwell who came to Canada a few times to run MOD 50. I bought a couple of 3-blade over-the-hub cleavers from Jim.
How did you manage to get all the way to St. Louis to become a victim of bait (#286) and switch (SE hull)? Sounds to me like #286 had something "different" built into it by BeBe Crum? Bought one of the first Seebold all composite SST140 hulls they made. Was a porpoising dog that never did run right. Hull halves split apart in the first race it was ever in at Portland Oregon. Bill Joule and Tim Seebold were the only ones who made them run right. The rest of us struggled. Finally dumped it for 1/3 of its cost in 2008 when it was clear that OPC racing would tank for good.
