In my 9 year stint as Product Assurance Engineer, I wrote more than 700 test requests for Oshkosh, Placida, and the Lake. Then the 1989 crunch came and our entire department was chopped. Left a very bad taste in my mouth for sure. The first big engine without my test program was the 3 litre. Several engineers on that program would call me for advice on what and how many, etc. should they test. I could have told them to shove it, but I didn't - I bled black then and now.Attachment 513413
Nope......don't agree with you. If they want answers or advice, tell them to open their wallets. Company saved $$$ by chopping you off the payroll then tries to save $$$ again by "knowledge transfer". They had a chance to document what was in your head and blew it. HR organizations are idiots.
...first couple years of the regular 3.0 litre's had some growing pains. noth'n you couldn't take care of though, mr. bergen...https://www.screamandfly.com/attachm...3&d=1671030165
I had 24 1/2 years in at that time, 2 small kids at home, and suddenly out of a job. The service department had made cuts but they cut too deep or got rid of some dead wood. I got back in as a senior technical writer and they continued my service time. insurance, etc., but I did take a pay grade hit. It hurt for a while but I worked my way up and out into the world of OEM service, working with boat companies, which also got me a move to Florida for 5 years. Then I made a mistake in my career and went back to the FDL offices in the accessory division, to bring SmartCraft on line, but could not hack the 5 day sit at your desk routine after having been on the road. So back on the road in Wisconsin and Minnesota, and left with a decent package at age 62. I will be 77 in January - and at present don't even own a boat!
...we had a recession is '88. a number of big companies were letting people go. took awhile for the economy to turn around. remember it well...
Get ready, there is another recession coming. As long as it doesn't affect my pension check.
