What power was on it when you sold it?
what did previous owner say it ran?

It had the 250xs on it, but with just break-in hours and no real set-up time.
When I had the 2.5 280 on it the 12" setback was just about perfect and it ran high 70's most every day.
When I first put the 250 on it, the setback was way too much and it porpoised like crazy. I had just switched to a 7" and only tired it with the new owners test drive.
It turned it to be still too much, so he moved the batteries under the dash and added even more additional weight under the bow and said it did 70 at 2,000' above sea level.
I am moving the motor closer to the transom with some vertical adjustment, starting over with battery location and extra weight and hope to be back near, or at, 80 mph
Sorry for the hi-jack Wave to Wave, at least it is Activator related :o
Should try some different props with the current setback before removing it. Would suck to never know!
I only drove it once with the 7" setback, during the 2012-2018 owners sea trial, but it is obvious to me that he thought it did as moved the batteries from just behind the tank to in front of the interior...
Note, my hull also has the 7" transom notch, which I believe yours does as well. Mine also has the fiberglass liner floor and the stock tank in the stock location.
I will try to tell the back story without getting too long winded, ha ha:
I bought this hull in fall of 2002 from 2.5-21, it had the 12" stainless marine setback on it then. I mounted a 2.5 liter 280 (375 lbs) on it and it had great balance.
It flew flat across chop and cornered like it was on rails.
In the late 00's our local lake adopted the EPA 2006 rules, so I sold the 280 and bought a 250xs Opti, rigged it on the same setback, and it porpoised ALLOT in the 40-60 MPH range
Plus, the motor almost drowned itself when you came off of plane ...
I bought the 7" setback, but didn't get around to putting in on for a while as we just bought a new house and I got real busy
Then, without getting to personal, I got sick, had a ton of bills so I sold it and put on the different setback for the new owner
Fast forward six years, I am doing fantastic and had the opportunity to get MY boat back
Now I want to do all of the things I didn't do the first time I owned it
I'm glad you're doing better. Thanks for sharing. Very cool you got it back. I think it's a matter of finding the right setback, I am going with 6" and with the 4" of built in setback on the G2 means 10". I really have no idea what mine will weigh, it seems heavy, just based on towing it, but that's just guessing. It's probably the same as stock, or slightly less. Keep me updated. Worst case, I can move to a 4" but I think 6" will be good. Your 7" should be great with the notch.
