Who in their right mind restores a BAYLINER?!

Had a tough time seeing where the timing was on the black painted flywheel, so I traced it onto masking tape. Also used some TIG welding wire to make a little pointer for easier reading. Timing is set to about 33* BTDC.

Started running the hydraulic steering lines also. What a pain in the butt doing it alone!!! That was a mistake haha.

Used a a ratchet strap to pull all the rigging through my shop vac hose, I mean rigging tube lol. Still gotta put a couple short pieces where it tees off. More to do today and tomorrow.

Going to South Carolina Thursday to Sunday, but maybe next week I'll get to try firing her up!!! Will still have to adjust idle, and mixture screws.

Need a rub strip for the rail . Timing at 33 will get close to 31 at top rpm so try a bit more when tuned in.

Looks sharp and sounds great. Are you going to add a Transom Saver Brace to the back of the trailer for traveling to and from the water?

i have the rub rail- haven't put it on yet. Need a nice warm day, and a cooler of hot water.

What are the three bolt holes on the port side of my engine clamp for???
Also, do I have the jam nuts for the vertical adjustment of the jack plate correct?



I can't wait to put her in the water!!! Another week or two I think. Last week we got 5" of snow at 5am, and it was melted by 11am. Now the roads are all salted and sandy again. Thanks Rhode Island DOT!
I made a new serial number plate. The original sticker was on its last leg. Screwed it to the side of the clamp.
Finally Drained the lower unit oil. Very sludgy!!!
I did a mock graphics inverted colors for the white motor cowl. I went with 1200cc rather than 90hp. Just to make people ask lol. Still putting the teeth/mouth up front though haha.

To to do list: -Wire battery switch /make bracket.
-Wire relay and power to fuse box
-Wire gauges:Tach/Fuel/volt/water pressure.
-Wire bilge pump and switch.
-Wire lights and switch
-Make horn mount and wire to switch.
-sand windshield edges.
-swap lower unit oil.
-wire trailer.
-install floor hatch cover latches.
-paint inside non-skid.
-Install rub rail.
-get graphics & reg numbers
-build cover pole/check cover fitment.
-grease all engine parts.
-register!
-Attempt to scream and fly!!!

There's nowhere to mount anything on this little boat, so had to make a bracket for a small battery disconnect switch.
Started running the new rubrail, but is slow work at sub freezing temps.

Just got another 4" of snow today!!! And it's still snowing!!! Bizarre weather in Rhode Island. Can't wait to water test this thing, but the season isn't cooperating. Haha.

The 3 holes are for a mechanical trim indicator or a nla power sterring setup. Use for whatever you need to, like boarding ladder. Great project, hope you do more over the upcoming years.

If I am looking at the pic correctly, you need nuts on both sides of the tab the threaded rod goes thru.
