The strakes on my sons 1968 Larson Lapliner do the same thing. They are reversed. It also has a small tunnel
at the keel. They called it, "the million bubble ride".....Not taking away from petes complex design, as I'm sure it does have some advantages. As to turning, the old Larson turns so hard it will throw you out. I suspect this one does well in a turn too.
