Jackie.. In case you hadn't heard Jon Nicolson has passed away I'm sure you remember him from the old days.....
I didn't disappear to froggieland-----I'm a Yorkshire missionary teaching heathens the error of their ways whilst edificating the natives On the correct use of the English language!
Une baguette and a pan aux chocolate hardly makes for nouvelle cuisine--------and "Sunshine", I never get bent out of shape!
You can hold on to my passport in future.
I wake up every morning and realise I'm not dead, it's a great feeling-----check it out ?
Poorly Paw has had to get on with life------been three months since I had the mad fit of depression and drove the four iron into Mother Earth,
Today it had extensive use and the donut syndrome is back, along with the throb - throb, back on the thousand mile an hour French aspirins.
Never forget to comment Gary------good , bad , or indifferent-------they always make me feel better.
Still got some health issues--------- I just sit on em that bit harder--------keeps the buggers in check.
You gotta love the French medical system
you can see 3 doctors in the same day
each will prescribe 3 versions of the same tablet
go home with 9 bottles
Unfortunately Pilgrim it's just as broke as the NHS !
Buggered If know Pilgrim-------could be the same as here-----"administration" and fat cats milking the life blood out of it. Even a third rung up the ladder admin gets twice as much as the prime minister .
As with most modern day jobs------it's not what you can do, but what you can say you can do.
Saw a most beautiful RIVA ARISTON, about two foot long in polished mahogany, had all the bells and whistles and propulsion-------just about a perfect replica . Seriously considered going for it, but hells teeth it was £400 cash money with no leeway-----------that's all my beer money down the drain in one move.
Car boots are like boxes of chocolates-------ya never know what your going to get 'till you get there!
the UK system is the worst run business on the planet, Europe's largest employer and no centralised buying, there's a start
See if I can get you a job in the NHS Pilgrim-----------you get in there and straighten the buggers out.
Finally got myself back. "In the groove" yesterday,.
Mark and Craig got themselves acres of workshop and fantasmorgorical offices------they have a rake of concepts I made for the P1 series that were never required which are displayed Therein.
Decided to do em a few of my more whackier efforts-------a bit more "futuristic" ----way out renditions of racing water craft.
First one started to take shape yesterday--------Turbine----winged trimaran? Ridiculously shaped futuristic hulls. Nobody seems to try anything new in design these days, so I thought I'd have a crack at it.
Not for the faint hearted purists------they would have a "dickie fit" !
Could post a progress piccie if anyone's interested, any old fart got time to take his thumb out of his arse and post a request ?
Even then, it's not a given-----depends what I feel like on the night .
If anybody out there fancies one of these latest "Concepts" then drop me a line. There all in English oak ----aluminium and stainless. All except the LUCAS OILwhich is in sixty shades of red. The mounts are OUTSTANDING. PROMISE you won't be disappointed.
Attachment 387401Attachment 387402Attachment 387404
Told you i'd get some depth of colour to the "LUCAS OIL"-------5 brush coats and patience I don't possess and it finally is redder than a rampant rodents rear !
Triple hulled turbine with a wing is coming on in leaps and bounds-------might just make a half tidy concept before long.
Got enough oak concepts to start a forest fire, so I decided to put half a dozen coats on it -----make it shiney bright and beautiful, let's take it from there and see what transpires------spent all day working on the turbine-----was bloody slow coming together, fraught with problems, but nothing is insurmountable.
Tore the tri into bits already for painting, polishing and putting back together.
Decided to do the thing black and polish--------must have the devil in me today, making positive maybe decisions like that.
Another ten coats and it should be somewhere nearwhereiwant to be at.
Taking tomorrow off, going to the Southampton Boat Show. Has to be ten years since I've been to a show.
Well her who knows best just went and cancelled the Caribbean Cruise-------ten out out of the twelve islands we were due to visit need a lot of TLC before their fit for human consumption.
So I guess it don't matter where or when they hold the fall OFF meeting ------I just don't think I'll be there!
spoke with Mark and Craig ------they don't think Caddy will be up for it at his place.
Maybe somebody should ask him, see if you can get a "POSITIVE MAYBE " !
The clock is ticking, Jackie--we need to make plans!!
I tried to get Fred involved-- Lake X??
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have no connections. I'm three times removed from current Lake X occupants.

. Gene, for Christ's sake, we only just left the start line------look where I'm going? My eyes no longer rest in the sockets -----they're at least a foot in front of my forehead, trying to find the places I've never been and the ladies who are still trying to find me.
Heard tell there's only fairies and memories left at lake X---I only went there the once and I'm still taking the fifth!
Try harder with Fred----looks like Rich is the ONLY hope for off. We're all off the pace for organising!
Looks like "Mr. Mystique" ------Fujimo himself has taken an interest in the hosting off "OFF".
Appears he bought a pad on lake Harris------Bill and Betty used to take me fishing there in the pontoon boat-----------up through the Dora canal . ( That's the one they used in the making of "THE AFRICAN QUEEN" with Bogart and Hepburn, ) but I digress, as usual !
Our friend Fuji apparently thinks that Tavares are not that enamoured with the fall meeting and won't exactly lay the red carpet out for the OFF brigade once it's all systems go. I always thought we were treated right royally up there, enjoyed every meeting I went to. I think somebody got their wires crossed somewhere along the line.
Theres enough old farts , and rapidly becoming old farts who reside in florida that, if they thought about it, could cobble together a classic boat/old fart/fun meeting, chuck in a bit of offshore with a dash of the well heeled poker run people, bit of a boat show, you got the makings of a marine festival week, maybe a formula one tunnel race and a super boat race with a P1 thrown in for good measure, the likes of which has never been seen before------all you need is water and space ! Who knows, it could become the start of something BIG ???
There I go again with my butterfly brain------still, one thing about the "Tricks" thread, controversial yes,but never dull.
Time to put on the Sunday best duds, get ready to be picked up-----head down the road to the last day of the 2017 Southampton Boat Show.
Jackie, I think that Fujimo was referring to the town of Mt. Dora......they definitely have backed away from being the host site for the CRA Vintage / OFF event as well as the ACBS meet that follows the next weekend (in March). Also the Mt Dora facility eventually got too small and the Town was hosting too many other events (not on the water-front). I am impressed with how quickly Tavares initiated the Wooten Park clean-up. It is a large draw / money maker for their Town, so they are motivated to get it functional ASAP.
Thanks for clearing that up Roger, ( say Hi to Margo) ------should have done my homework-----thought Tavares and Mt. Dora were one and the same ? Duh, Dingleberry!!
Amazed how many looked on the dark side of Irma--------there's now full employment-----contractors of all sorts will have all the problems sorted in double quick time.
Insurance companies will wriggle and squirm and try to dodge paying out under the "Act of God" clause, but in the end much of the cost of rebuilding the damage done by Irma will be borne by them. After all, isn't this why we pay outrageous premiums in the first place ? Just in case ?

So, we get out of Europe and invade the colonials.
You may ask what the hell has that motley crew got to do with Yours truly ? Well sit down, grab a beer and I'll tell you ----- Left to right---
Ian "Hawkeye" Was in at the start of the "COSWORTH" experiment, been a family friend for over forty years. Worked for years at COSWORTH ENGINEERING in Northampton. Later moved to the USA and joined forces with Paul Way at ILMOR. . Can often be found frequenting the Gieco factory in Jupiter.
Next up is James Shepherd, lived in the next village to me in West Sussex---------now many years ago
when he was just a kid, he would come and watch the boat races. Teamed up with my grandson Craig and went racing all over the world in a 42' Fountain powered by a pair of Ilmors ! Won the World Series two years on the trot. Recently won the Cowes/Torquay race and was asked by Gary to join the Gieco team line up!
Centre stage of course is my eldest granddaughter Louise, Backbone of the team, does everything, from organising food and lodgings, to routes, fuel, transport . Uniforms, promo gear, hats shirts -----make sure the whole team appears "Professional"
Not many people in the boating world will fail to Recognise Stevie. Curtis, I've known him since he was born, raced with his father Clive, all over Europe. He teamed up with James Beard and Chris Hodges to form Cougar------me, I opened up a dungeon in Horsham and set up Supreme Marine.
Steve of course went on to become world champion seven or eight times over----pedigree as long as your arm ,well worth gainfully employing.
Last but not least is my grandson in law Gary Stray, worked for Cougars as a boy-----learned the hard way, still regarded as one of the best boat riggers in the world . Boss man of Gieco Racing -----in total charge of everything-------married my granddaughter and became part of the "Wilson" Dynasty.
So yes, I do have a connection with that little lot!

Coming along nicely----- just got to fit the wing, and cockpit to construct and Bobs yer uncle!

That will never ever look right in a million years-------because of this stupid idiotic PC thing I'm not allowed to say-------Looks like the n-------r in the woodpile.
My sentiments exactly Gary, but we are in a minority here, me and you use common sense and decency-------had a controlled upbringing and know right from wrong, it's the way we were raised.
That s all out the window these days, counts for nothing.
My kids are forever telling me "DAD, YOU CANT SAY THAT !"-------I've said it all my bloody life and I'm not about to stop now.
Somehow WHITEY in the wood pile doesn't have the same ring to it !
There should be some licence when your telling a joke or having a laugh, without fear of being hung drawn and quartered, or being incarcerated at taxpayers expense.
Have to tread a bit careful here -------been relegated out of the top dozen in the pecking order of S&F, could get drummed out of the brownies for not being quite P.C.
You know your not flavour of the month when you get down below "larger engines from OMC and drawings for a super speed master".
i don't give a flying fart where the "tricks" site is, if folk want to read it, then they'll look until they find it.
Been to the hospital today to try and get the Poorlie Paw sorted once and for all, have to wait for another three months for the final results.
Managed a couple of hours in the shop this afternoon . I thought the wing on the turbine tri was a bit "Agricultural", so I fabricated a new one. Just got another three or four hours on it and I'll be there. One of my better efforts at mounting a concept.
Should put the finishing touches to the last of the Concepts that have been cluttering up the place for months.
Nothing more in the pipeline, or even planned. Guy down at the Southampton Boat Show asked if I would be interested in making some pieces to enhance his exhibits at the London Boat Show. _--------
all the balls are up in the air at the minute ----cancelled the cruise------not allowed to drive-------spend half my time between the surgery------the hospital----- and the workshop, it's all "Jolly Hockey Sticks"Attachment 387873
Kim---Me, and a feck off big "SUNSEEKER" at the Southampton Boat Show!
Long night, took ages to drop off, so naturally I get to thinking about what's next on the cards------decided to dismantle the "Tri Turbine"------go through it with a fine tooth comb and make it as good as I can. Craig's always telling me I don't ever finish anything-----I tell him I don't have the time.
My old friend Bill Mouland had a saying--------"IF ID HAVE KNOWN THE BUGGER WASNT GOING TO PAY, ID HAVE CHARGED HIM DOUBLE".
Last week in September coming up----leaves are on the turn, last flourish of flowers, apples all dropped off, grass no longer needs a haircut every week, won't be long before winter rears its miserable head. I know there's lots of folk love winter, unfortunately I'm not one of em.
New house has push button instant fire and thermostat heating-----never thought id miss the log pile, emptying of the ashes, chimney cleaning, wood smoke, and all the mess and chores that go with an open fire-------but I do. Must be getting old and senile.
Suddenly realised I had talked often with Rich's friend "Dickie" who passed on last week, no I didn't know him well, just enjoyed his company for a while whilst at the OFF meetings, it's another one gone as I go on the journey.
I plan on a full day in the shop (7 hours) if I do , I'll let you know !
Attachment 387903Attachment 387904
Came across some some very unique laser cut steelwork--------now I know WHAT ITS SUPPOSED TO DEPICT------do any of you out there.
i could print off a hundred pictures, but it wouldn't help.

Saw this Riva Ariston ____beautifully detailed model, for sale at £300 , was tempted, but I was strong, ( and I didn't have the readies with me)
