Hey Gusto 1, how would you say the power curve of your Best 56er compared
to the 19s ( the first model) power head. some of them 56guys was sayin they was pullin close to the numbers you were talkin about on pump gas:eek:  i didn't tell them what my number were:cool:
Hey Fred, how much power were they gettin out of the 70 FE moto?
stock, out of the box they were good for makin the rated hp at the prop shaft.
tricked out,?, thinkin like 33hp a hole:eek:  maybe 34:cool:

I like seeing all these motor's and the thrill of the people that have them ! Soon i WILL HAVE MY BLUE UP AND RUNNING !
Question !
Can a looper also have finger porting done ?
Is finger porting used mostly towards drag racing ?
How much does finger porting effect fuel economy ?
Finger ports can be cut in loopers that do not already have them.
They improve power throught the RPM range.
Its like this, any modification I have ever seen that improves power in a basic design burns more gasoline. As long as the laws of physics are in effect, I'm pretty sure it will be that way.
:leaving:
Keith, very nice power curve!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I assume it is a 3.3L, did not see or get a chance to view any threads before this one.
Curious to know your port heights cuz you should actually be pulling more torque than what you show & achieving that top end power as well. Most I ever got was 388hp & torque curve was higher as well too.
Gotta check my records tho too!
EXCELLENT RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) :) :) :)
See post #613 above...it's a V8
whats done to the yeller moter with the evo intakes and stacks?

We have to compare notes!
thats not sayin much... if the boat would float a v8 it prolly wouldnt leave worth a chit.. wurd on the street is monty made 417 wit a 6 when he had the dyno in jax a few weeks ago... i doubt it will live as long as a 400hp 8 and it prolly wasnt pump but that aint no soccer mom 6:reddevil:
I have a Hydrostream Valaro 1985 model coming out of my shop with a whole new bottom structual glass and opoxy primer laid up on it ...The finish of the bottom is jet black Alexseal a total of 14mils of finish and fairing to correct some of the old body flaws , a new floor laid up with new stringers ( mahogany ) and new interior , maybe you guy's can pass the word around for me , a 200 performance Mercury could come with the boat if needed ...selling this boat to get my blue up and running . Have pics avalible for any one who's inerested !
i wanted one for the vegas:( somethin like u got woulda been perfect, reliable and powerful
just didnt wanna let him get away with the soccer mom comment, im a fan :D
Funny ! how is it that the same weisco piston part numbers pull up for my Rude v-8 and yet I still have to hear some mess about how ( black )mercury can still manage to say how this motor is junk ?!
My opinion is it must be like the difference between ford and chevy lovers , yet Rude has sheet numbers to prove all sh*t talk
and if your a merc man you'd best have some boat weights and gps numbers before I am to believe ...

Here's my Aussie 1995 3.0 L powered boat.Its called a Firebird "Fastwing"Attachment 148552
Attachment 148553
Attachment 148554
Thanks guys! It's actually a Made in Canada serial number too. Well, now maybe just the clamp brackets. :D
The Taylor mid mods reduce the amount of negative trim available - I do have another -6 degrees in the jackplate, I may have to use it.
Roddles, you guys have some way cool toys (your boat is bad ass!) down there and like to play  Some day I'd like to visit.
Jeff, after a bazzilon hrs of grinding I have full negative trim with mine (you may too) but due to the shorter tilt tube to prop shaft distance (16" Vs 20")the L/U travels less distance than a 20" motor. This may be what you're refering to??
On the stocker I cut down I installed negative trim wedges but they were a pain in the ass! On my Vector, with the wedges it sometimes REQUIRED/NEEDED so much positive trim (making up for the negative amount built into the wedges) that it went into trailer mode.
With your thumb on the button the pump would hold pressure (and motor stationary) but as soon as you released the button the unit released pressure and the motor dropped!
Try that in a Vector at a 100
Spent a while chasing that one thinking it was blowing out at speed.
