Does the prep-sol degreaser/dewaxer dry fast like acetone and will it agree with the duratec primer and gel I already have on the boat?

Ya no problem, not quite as volatile as acetone but dries quick. Another thing about washing with acetone is it may soften the base your washing, the final wash products are less aggressive. But forget all this stupid tech stuff. The REAL reason you can't get a good finish on this boat is because God is punishing you for not making it metalflake. Probably your dog even hates you now:rolleyes:
Well good news and bad news, the big compressor worked much better on the other half of the boat. I still got some fish eye but nowhere near as much. What I ended up doing was let the gel I sprayed kick then I went put a drop of gel in the fish eyes hopefully it works, I’ll find out when I sanding.
We often used denatured alcohol for final wipe-down.
For anyone who has applied gel coat with the duratec additive the way I did (sprayed) what grit sand paper did you start with to knock down the orange peel? I have 400,600and 800. Does it need to be wet or dry? Also I have to knock down all the gel droplets that I put on the fish eye areas, it’s much higher than the rest of it, how should I go about that? Maybe a Dremel? I’m guessing that I need to tread lightly on the sanding/buffing process as to not go all the way thru the gel…
Attachment 533007Spent most of today fixing the fish eyes. Yesterday I was able to put a drop of gel into them right after I sprayed. On the other side of the boat the gel was already cured so I used a Dremel to clean out the fish eyes then mixed some gel and put a drop in each one with the little tool in the pic. Once the gel cured I used a finger sander to flatten them out, I left them just a tad higher than the orange peel in hopes that when I start the sanding/buffing process everything will blend out. Figured by doing this I won’t have to sand off the whole gel coat again and risk more fish eye.
Attachment 533354Attachment 533355 Huge victory today! Just finished spraying my hull for the 3rd time today and not one single fish eye! The problem ended up being the 50/50 duratec high gloss and gel mix was too thin on my first 2 attempts. This time I went with more gel and less duratec and it worked mint and still sprayed great out of the gun. Now I just gotta finish my running surface with the gator glide and flip the boat. The gel I sprayed today should be pretty easy to cut and buff seeing as the orange peel is very minimal.
Looking good!

I think that happens when the pic doesn’t fully load onto the site when you’re posting. Probably work ok if you try again
