This pic is Boots winning the outboard division while finishing 2nd overall at the Parker 9 Hour in 1969. He and Jim Merten ran a flawless race resulting in the best finish ever for an outboard in that event. I always enjoyed being around him, he was quite the character. My nickname for him was "Animal". He owned a marina in Oshkosh and had an OMC dealership. A couple of years after Parker, he and a buddy bought Wings with 1250 stackers from Merc Racing and used them to go bar hopping! It was always a fun sight to watch how people sitting in a restaurant would react to the sound of those Wings running in full song and then the sight of them screaming towards the dock. :DQuote:
