When I tell you in all honesty------these guys will go through hell and high water to get to you in the event of an accident-------believe me-------they are the best.
Its impossible to estimate how many lives they've saved-------no, they didn't save them all, but it wasn't through lack of trying.
From the British isles to the Far East and all points in between-----me myself was in at the birth of the OSPREYS and yesterday was their 50th Anniversary-------so there was no way could I miss that occasion.
I don't suppose for one minute anyone has ever written a book about them------ it's like the rest of "Power Boat History" ready to get lost in the annals of time.
One things for absolute bloody certain--------every single one of them has a blockbuster story in their own right !
When I look back at the number of drivers these guys have pulled out of wrecks-------it would hard to think of the few who "Haven't" been rescued, from Molinari ---Spalding--Percival----Scotti---Beard----Jenkins, Seebold---Wilson---Williams----Lindenberg----Velden----Hering----as I said, there's more that have than haven't .
There's a thousand stories come out of any of these reunions, this one was no exception------- turns out Parkinson still has virtually every video of every FONDA race there ever was ----I thought those were lost for ever.
Trouble is he's going a bit gaga, doddery and forgetful, so I'd better hurry it up a bit before I join him.

A bunch of ex racers thought they would try and revive the Bristol race--------they hadn't reckoned on the biggest problem being the UIM and the RYA who jumped on the idea from a dizzy height. Twould appear nothing has changed------ruling authorities still think they're God and they poo non smelly KA KA !

Islamorada, Sunday afternoon.
Forgive me for sticking my chest out------throwing my fist in the air and yelling yes !
Craig only went and won seven out of the last eight P1 races.(just a second in the other), he thinks he's got the title by one point ( that's strictly unofficial).
Went down to the last race------it helped a lot that it blew up rougher than a witches tit and the kids a natural in the rough.
Had to change the gearcase ------rumour went round they had altered the ratio and the protests went in.? Will get back to you.

Islamorada 18:00hrs, it went down to the wire------- equal points , still no verdict on who's won the title-----told Mark to send me a video and piccies-------and the FECKIN RESULT ! I'm off to bed.

Monday morning------
Thats one of the things about boat racing-----everybody puts you in promise land-----"OK dad, you get off to bed and I'll email you the results, and some pictures, maybe a vid or three".
Didn't bloody happen did it------so I get up at crack-o-sparrer, expecting to have the P1 results from Islamorada, and a rake of phoggies, ------NOTHING-------scan through Facetime, all it says is "podium"-------------- what's this for sh-t ? as Werner used to say.
Can only come to the conclusion that the results were manipulated after the fact, and Craig missed out yet again on the P1 title. Now that's all conjecture so I'd better stop that.
Would still have been nice to have known, one way or another!
If anyone out there KNOWS the final results, would love an update.

Searching through the net-----I found it------Craig did not get the title. Apparently Frank and Alls Pizza have done more races!!!!!!

Not like you to print arse about face piccies Fuji ------you having a bad day?

Spent a couple of hours in the shop-yesterday, ------tidying-----cleaning and just generally feeling the place out.
Will try and be a bit more constructive today, without rushing about trying to set the world on fire.
May just see if I can put some finishing touches to the couple of Mystics I started months ago, might have to ask J/S if he'd like a crack at finishing them!
There's something very tactile about a carved wooden boat with some aluminium chucked in for good measure. Will enjoy getting back in the saddle and making myself useful again, Kitchen goddess will be quite relieved to get me out from under her feet.

Three hours this morning--------another two this afternoon in the shop.
Swellings down by ninety per cent-------no strength at all in the hand /wrist, but it's working (just).
Been sat on this idea for a while------should have something tangible by the end of this week.
Slow start, but gaining momentum. Watch this space.

Haven't heard a word from Mark or Craig since Sunday-----would appear the final result was dead heat on points @ 299 apiece .
Craig put in a great effort to win 7 out of the last 8 races-----but due to the count back system he lost out to Frank and Al.
He lost out last year by the odd point I believe-------Somedays you eat bear! ------afraid that's boat racing.
Got an appointment at the hospital at 11 am today------hope they nail the "Paw" once and for all, been a most miserable time.

Had a CTC scan-----X rays-------ultra sounds------bloods-----in fact just about every test known to man and beast.
Gave em arms full of blood-n-stuff over a period of five hours. Walked a full 25 miles up and down the corridors of Chichester's St Richards hospital. Saw kids younger than my grandkids posing as full blown doctors.
Only thing that's gone downhill are the neck arteries, they got kinda firred up a tad more.
I thought they might have nailed the "Poorlie Paw" at the same time but I'm booked in tomorrow for that. Trey must have thought five hours in one day was enough for anyone.
Oh yes-----I had to take out another mortgage to pay for the five hours car parking charge !
By my reckoning Chichester hospital rakes in £4,000'000.a monthinfees.

Had a restitution day------been prodded, poked and photoed enough to last me a lifetime.
So, I took a day off-----colonials call it time out.
Be ok tomorrow!

Dont suppose many of the old farts out there will be much interested in the latest"concept" efforts--------had a sudden yen to try a couple of offshore rigs. As usual, I can't do one without doing two. Decided to go for two. Haven't got a clue how I topped up with five ! These are mainly wood------old English oak--------it's what I've got plenty of !

How 'bout then, congratulations are due to James Shepard who only went and won the COWES/ TORQUAY race at his first attempt, with the old Dragon boat and a pair of "ILMORS".
James was with grandson Craig winning two world championships in The P1 Class with a pair of Ilmors in a 42' Fountain.
Stevie Curtis was first into Torquay, but fell apart just shy of Weymouth on the way back!
The old Dry Martini made the podium. Richie powers had the time of his life and was everywhere to be seen?

Well into making one of my "Concepts" for James Shepard , this has to be something a bit special----- James is a fussy bugger------into vintage automobiles-------retired and up to no good. Don't be surprised to see him down at Key west in November.

Went across country to have lunch with my very good friends Clive and Jane, there's a great country pub called "The Laughing Fish" at Isfield-------well worth the sixty mile trip!
Bloody Thursday again tomorrow------must be the third one this week, August is just about done------summers over, kids back at school -------world is whizzing at an alarming rate of knots, Poorlie Paw is definately on the mend-------concepts are taking shape, and I'm cooking with gas.

Came across a trader at the car boot sale who had cleared out an engineers workshop I picked up a fantastic rake of superb tools, Mikes, lathe tools, about 20 counter sinks and centre finders, partingtools--------about £650 worth------for the princely sum of thirty quid.
Made me realise that's probably what will happen to all my equipment when I pop my clogs!
