Any single guys out there?
Have to tell you, I have played my last game of golf
My arm is in a sling and thought I'd broken my wrist. Took a big divot with the driver and shattered the tendons on my right wrist. It's up to three times the norm and hurts like a " Sumbitch"
Like a true idiot golfer, I carried on playing to the end.
came in next to last-------which is about right.
The event raised .£18,000 which must be a good result
Have an appointment at the Bognor Regis hospital at 9am-----got very little sleep again last night and the wrist is throbbing.
Her indoors has been magnificent, God only knows what I'd do without her, bet the beach boys coulda made a hit with that one !
Sarasota.
Last race for the P1 s was cancelled yesterday-------scheduled for ten thirty---------was postponed until four thirty-------then dumped. Afraid that would have pissed me right off.
Three out of three is not a bad day at the office all things considered, but he needed that last win to have any chance of the championship.
Bognor Regis hospital Is the last of its kind anywhere-------staff smile all the time and nothing is ever any trouble. Walked into the minor injuries unit, examined by nurse, sent for X-ray, five minutes later nurse calls me in to tell me, no broken bones, just a bunch of torn ligaments. Walked out of the hospital ---------in to out 30 minutes----no car parking charges-------arm in a sling. Take it easy for a week.Does it get any better than that ?
This week end brought me down to earth with a bump John, I tried to stop the March of time but the body would have non of it------this last episode showed me just how fickle the body really is. May have to use cotton wool, or at least some terry towelling to protect this old frame.
Im working on the Goddess tO stick me on a flight to Orlando from Barbados ------did not go down well. Watch this space !
A lot of water went under the bridge since I last posted here-------mainly because the right arm is totally out of action.
Had to return to the surgery and get an H.A.S. Stuck all the way up to my elbow, that helped during the day but lost all feeling in my fingers so I had to tear it off in the middle of the night. Was worried Rigorousmortis had set in.
Turns out lots of tenants had been illegally sub letting the apartments in Greenfell Towers, one of the reasons they don't know how many folk actually lived there .
Happy 4th July to all my colonial friends .
Had a cursory glance through Facebook ------was surprised to find I actually knew a surprisingly large amount of the people on there . Started Off with the Squirt who was staying with Seebold, then Sutter and De Sousa who were friends with Percy and Spalding ------then Andy Elliot whose dad and mum I used to race with talking to Renato with comments from Werner and Lassie and Weiland------scroll down a bit and there's Rich Luhrs and Roger H, John Schubert , and Butler, Ritchie Powers and Bootsie, my son in law worked for him in the 90/s in Oggiono.
As I carried on scrolling, I realised what a great bunch of people I have as friends------all because I went boat racing--------- airways thought I could have been rich if I hadn't wasted my money on raceboats---------then it suddenly came to me--------Goddamn and blast it ----I AM RICH !

This is is the four pointer that Phil Rolla donated to the French Maritime Museum , was run by Kevin Desmond at that time, anyway, it went the way of most maritime museums "Belly Up".
Was later Aquired by the Basildon Wat Tyler maritime museum-----again another "Tits Upper"
Its currently located at Lowestoft under the guidance of "Fast on Water"
Have enquired about this boat on numerous occasions through these channels, but as the saying goes----- nobody knows nothing-------does it ring a bell with anyone ?
Reason to believe it was built by Ron Jones !

My friend Bjorn Christianson and his 1953 Motto Guzzi. He is halfway into the Milan-Turin "Mille Migglia" for vintage motor cycles. God willing, he should reach Turin tomorrow the 8th July.
Wonder how many of us thought about doing something like that-------suppose it's only what Rich -Roger, Ted Boyd and the rest of the vintage racers do.
Always been tempted to restore an old, but interesting car, just never found either the car or the time-----now it's far too late.
Took the sleeve off again last night------swelling gone down a little, but my hand still looks like a donut on a stick! Ah well, doctor said it would be two weeks------told him I didn't have two weeks to spare, but it made no difference!
After reading through the last two weeks of "Tricks"-----I am beginning to think it's running out of steam and has run its full course.
Maybe it's time to let it pass away gracefully and move on-------"the time has come" the walrus said.
Lets face it, was a time when a few old farts would chip in and tell us what they were doing to while away the time-------but that was then------this is now, everyone's gone to the moon.
Blasted wrist is no better-----still got the arm in a sling, if it's no better by Monday I'll tootle off to hospital and let them take another look see.
Saw " Bootsie" has built a hydro to have a crack at the world diesel record (156 mph and held by him anyway)--------has 1500hp + In basic form and over 2,000 with a tweak, so no problems there.
He always did take massive horsepower, then built a boat around it.
My eldest daughter Sandra's husband. Steve worked for Bootsie over in Italy, used to take his dog Sam into work every day-------he told me Bootsie used to love that dog.
Bet he never had a problem with the UIM over safety cell issues--------the Italian Federation has always backed power boat racing up to the hilt and even the UIM does not take on the Italians.
Wonder how WARBY got over the safety cell issues with the UIM------ looks like he's on for a record run any time soon, using his son as jockey this time.
Craig tells me there's one more meeting for the P1/s-------five races over two days. He has to win all five races to stand any chance of the title--------nothing's impossible if you put your mind to it.
But that's not until the end of August-------a lifetime away yet.
Its no fun tapping away with the left index finger------trailing fingers hit all sorts of odd things that stick out of the keyboard-------amazing the words that come up when you don't really want them!
Off out to lunch with friends today------revert to the colonial way of quaffing food, Left hand -----with a fork?
Hey, Greg in Admin--------can you please tell me whatever happened to all the comments you used to post in the sidebar--------have to tell you that was one of the best things S&F had going for it !
Get it back-----you can't afford to be boring-----look what happened to Ron Hills " Facts Forum" ------that needs a bit of ginger up its bum-------need to be alert-----graveyards just around the corner !
Good to see you up and about again Jackie,,,did you get my E-MAIL of the 5th?....Phill.
...I just knew there were other four-pointers out there. Cause someone said the switzer wing was the only one ever built. Imagine that...http://www.screamandfly.com/attachme...2&d=1499266428
..."Facetious"...Treating Serious Issues With Deliberately Innappropriate Humor > Flippant
C'mon Fuji-------I neither said or insinuated you were even remotely "Facetious" !
AND you got that wrong !
I have not looked up any Websters, Wikipedia, ,or any such animal, but my interpretation of FACETIOUS is taking ANY situation and treating it with humour.
I was once riding up a Five in one gradient on my pushbike-------the sign on the side of the road reads
50 mph------Now THATS a FECKIN " Facetious "sign.
True story-------was on a camping holiday in the Lake District-------15 years old, with a tent tied to the saddle.
To this day, I still smile to myself when I recall that sign---------was raining cats and dogs, pedalling my heart out, uphill------and this stupid sign says 50 mph!
"I" was being facetious, you old f_ _ _!!! lol ;)
I always thought i would leave golf to when i was in awheel chair then probably never.
Ask tiger woods how his back is, gone down the same route as Greg Norman
Morning Pilgrim-----they have "racing" three wheeler cripple carts for the unwell, infirm and insane old bastards who partake in the ancient art of white ball whacking with a stick?
I wouldn't mind a bad back if I got it doing what Tiger does best--------never realised GN went down the same road-------dirty, lucky old bugger------kinda brings a tear to your eye, eh; what ?
Tiger had 2 favorite sports
One that earnt money and one that cost...
But both do your back in
Ps i mean GN top of his game then back injury ruled him out
He has had a few wives though, not sure if he played up
Both have/ had nice boats
According to Garbrecht-----there was only one way to straighten out an aching back-------and it wasn't acupuncture !
Ya know Jackie.....after seein your post about this thread startin to "fizzle out", it sure still has some good legs and some interesting info! Still my first read in the morning. Gary
Another "Climbing Walls" day-------whilst the poorly paw is on the mend, it's not ready to push and pull yet. Plus the fact that her who shall be obeyed has decreed the shop to be a no go area under threat of violent bodily harm !
Might try a spell behind the wheel of the trusty Lexus today-----been 10 days since since I sat behind a wheel------beginning to wonder if I can still remember how to .
Read three books last week------format for all three was the same-----tough guy, nasty men, sexy bird, happy ending-------early western movies all over again --------just swop Buck Jones and Gene Autry for Johnny Depp and Clooney !
Same old crap, just a different day-----nothing new.
Maybe I should try a novel, anyone of the guys I ever met have more interesting lives than the Jessie's they got poncing about these days.
Id put Pruett and Garbrecht up against any of today's characterless bunch of nondescripts.
Ho, Ho, Ho and a bottle of rum, this Wilson kids not quite so dumb!
Kitchen goddess has gone shopping, supplies, fruit and veg, wine and whusky, did I want to come ?
Thought it a wise decision not to answer that question.
Doesnt take Einstein to work out that a female (even on a mission) takes. A minimum 2/3 hours to pick up a tube of toothpaste and a bag of tomatoes.
Nothing can match the cunning and guile of an old fart who's been clicking his heels for ten days,
I figured she'd put the workshop keys in her handbag, so I left the back door of the shop unlocked yesterday when she wasn't looking-------eat your heart out Huck Finn!
Had just started on another tunnel concept for John Schubert to finish, before all this rigmarole started, it's made out of some of the finest figured English oak I ever did come across and I've been itching to get back to it for a while. Minute she walked out the door------i was a man of distinction -------went in there like a long dog.
Here I am two hours later------resting in my retirement chair------yes, made inroads into the project, when she comes back, I'll ask if I can go and clean up the workshop for just a hour or so ? I really don't think MarkTwain could have done any better?
Poorly Paw throbbed like a "Sumbitch" ----------maybe I should take it a bit more gentle next time I hit the shop. Been glugging thousand miles an hour pain killers all afternoon--------God forbid her highness should ever get wind of what happened !
Guess I'm sneaky but not smart-------I'll have to sleep on that one.
Thanks for the words of wisdom Johnno------are you sure you're not related to the love of my life, her who shall be obeyed at all times, her majesty the kitchen goddess. I am being told the exact same thing, over and over, I'm beginning to think there may be a modicum of truth in it !
Still have so far to go------so many things left to do----- places to go------people to see-----dresses to try on, (colloquially speaking of coarse).
I already quit doing lots of things I did when I was young------I don't drive boats, fast cars or helicopters any more------don't chase good looking girls any more ------ no more 13 hour flights to California------I quit smoking and sugar in my coffee over 30 years ago.
Got out of the fast lane a while back and moved to the centre lane------maybe it's time I moved into the inside lane ! Trouble is Johnno, after that, there's only the hard shoulder left --------you can get hurt bad if you stop for long in that one !
Was always an "all or nothing"sort of person my friend, self opinionated, argumentative, ( as you know from our first ever confrontation) so if and when that sneaky bastard reaper gets here-------I'm only going one way-------- with all the aches and pains, but kicking and screaming.
Have another great day out there and wring every second out of it-----there's only one "Today".
Attachment 380154
Best sweet peas ive had for years-------long stems and four flowers on each.
Used to spend a fortune on desIgner sweet peas that never amounted to much anyway, got this lot from the car boot sale for shirt buttons.
If Coco C. Could bottle the scent-------no telling how big the shop would be now.Attachment 380155
This is one of the many Hydrangea we have dotted around the back garden-------the red flowers are Bergamot ------right outside my workshop back door.
Today we have Lizzie------at 9:30 she leaves for play school, that means I Can get a couple of hours in the shop---------if I take it nice--n -----easy, I can do this.
Did better that that, got two and a half hours on the Twin Rude Tunnel -----cooking with gas again, albeit on the slow burner.
Need to get the "Poorly Paw" back into the "Mighty Mitt" again anytime soon !
weather back to nut freezing time again, temperature dropped by 20 degrees overnight .
Last five days of Wimbledon------Nadal gone, its all to play for. Seems like you can limp yourself into the first round and get paid $50,000------ sporting world today is just one big expensive joke, everything and everybody is just a tram ticket number.
Even a second division soccer player commands a thirty million transfer fee and a hundred thousand weekly wages --------oh yes, don't forget his agent------he's onto a couple of million just to get him to the table.
Wouldnt mind so much if most sports from F1 to push bike racing wasn't as bent as an 11 sided threepenny bit"
