Never could figure out what the difference was between a U-class Twister 1 and an S-class Twister 1.
Here in Canada back in 1973 we had Twister 1's in both U and S class and I can't remember any significant difference between the 2 classes that often ran together (also OMC Evinrude & Johnsons were the same for both U and S class back then as well).
Many times a U-class boat finished ahead of the S-class boats.
...yes. this is the actual car it was in, as it looks today. it was a 1954 cunningham stanguellini. it first had a kiekhaefer 40 cubic inch 4-cylinder engine installed, then won races with a 550 cc kiekhaefer engine installed, & then finally carl kiekhaefer set the then speed record at daytona beach florida, with an even larger 650cc kiekhaefer engine in this car. carl owned the car at the time. its in a private collection in south florida...https://velocetoday.com/wp-content/u...2/ban-rear.jpg
...how the car looked when it ran the 2nd & the 3rd kiekhaefer powerhead...https://velocetoday.com/wp-content/u...2/keik-780.jpg
I had a friend and mentor who did several automotive conversions like that. He taught me a lot about making power from the Mercury inline 4s.
Worked with him at HEWES--last name--REED? Raced against one of the 44" cars he built--

I went down to Florida City with Al a couple of times and saw you run that car. Al did the installation on a blue car that ran real good there.
Looks kind of like work in progress...........Merc graphics are not on it?
...carl kiekhaefer also imported & raced this 1958 stanguellini bialbero sports racer with the largest 1100 cc engine they installed at the time to enter & race in the daytona enduro. carl was impressed with horsepower these engines produced & wanted to study them. carl owned this car but registered to race it in daytona under the name behm motors due to a "factory entrants only" rule. https://velocetoday.com/wp-content/u.../CS01120-1.jpg
