Mercury Through The Years...

I was just browsing around on the web and saw these threads about the history of racing in Miami. I noticed my dad, Bobby Krell, mentioned several times. I was just visiting him last weekend with my oldest son, Bobby, named after him. My sister and I are actually in the process of donating a lot of his racing stuff to the History Miami Museum. I love hearing his stories of racing. :) Would love to hear any stories anyone has of racing with my dad. Not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask. If there is somewhere else that would be better to post, please let me know.

I raced Bobby a few times in E production in the early 70s. I was running a Mercury which was not very competitive with the OMC looper motors in that class. I did get a win from him in the Roaring 100 race marathon however. This was due to his boat breaking in half in the rough water off Key Largo. I kept waiting for him to pass me in the smoother waters of South Biscayne Bay and I was surprised when I finished and he didn't.
