That is one of Teds boats but it is Johnny Reed driving. This was Teds most successful boat. Some of that was the boat which was the only one like it that Ted built. I raced against several of Teds boats but Johnny was always the toughest. Do you know how many race boats Ted built? I can only recall maybe 3 or 4 including his own ride. As a driver Ted was handicaped by his poor vision. He could not see the start clocks from any distance away. His work around was to shadow one of us who was known to be pretty good at hitting the start. I found Ted sitting just off my right hip several times.
If it wasn't for this guy, there probably would not be a Mercury Through The Years.
