That Ventura is interesting. Don't know what he's talking about re: gelcoat colors, but the windshield is original and rare (too bad it's cracked) and the engine appears to be a 1977 140, again very rare and has the best parts (exhaust tuner, carbs, 1.92:1 gear ratio, heads).

I searched in vain for an original winshield (think it was considered a windscreen from hydrostream) when I was restoring mine and didn't even get a hit after 2 yrs. They seem tuff to come by !

I used 1" thick balsa core and hollowed it to fit the configuration of the bottom them filled the rest with glass and shaped to about a 9 1/2" wide flat pad and it ended up 3/4" deeper than the outer pads. I went about 8' up the hull and tapered it in. It does air out faster and accelerated more quickly, it does carry more of a load better. i could still get 100 out of it even with a passenger in the front seat and it makes it more like driving a V Bottom

I would say this is a must do Mod for a YT... Getting it to clean off and air out like a V bottom would make the YT alot more fun. Does it improve the ride quality?

Ya but also has high ring pistons (if still original) which were definitely the best for making hp but always at a cost :o

Scotty - Are you talking about on a HydroStream or on any boat?

On an allison it went 70mph in a thousand ft on pump gas with a 240lb driver,how fast did yours go in a thousand ft?Scotty i told you where you could of had your V4 done for free,and done the right way,but you didnt listen,thats not right...

Dude, what is your problem? Don't you get it? He works on his own stuff. He is looking for "free" advice on set up etc. He has the backing and support of many people on here. If you would like to really help, post something nice or get off this thread.

And for the record, the Allison went 67. Scottys boat is going much faster than that now......

I'm sure somebody has gone faster, but my Dad set an APBA Kilo Record in a class called "SV" with an Evinrude Strangler on a Vector. It was an average speed of 87 MPH over a kilometer (they get your average speed both directions and then average those). In testing prior to going to the record runs, he could hit low 90s with it. Keep in mind that was a cross flow in the late 70s so technology has come a long way since, but that was flying for a V4 back then.
