Been a very long day. 9-00pm and still a dozen of the old folk left here. As a final parting shot they just launched a rocket from Cape Canaveral. We all went outside and watched until it had disappeared from view .
Food was excellent —not anywhere in the world can you find such scintillating company —- Billy and Timmy finally went home . Gary and Lou were still there ——Gene and Freddie too—- plus a hard core dozen or so.
SO ENDETH THE FIRST DAY——- VISIT TO THE POTHOLES BASE .TOMORROW

Wow, what a day! Thanks to Mr. Wilson and the whole Wilson clan what a shindig! Got to see a whole bunch of people I haven’t seen in years. Finally met Mark Wilson and thank you for working on the propellers Mark. Thanks to Cadillac McDaniel‘s a true character met, and saw Mr. Gene LANHAM also Fred Darwick and of course, Mrs. Vida Sirois who is a dear friend from a past life! Johnny Reed and old Time boat racer from Miami. Mr. Bill Seebold, and his son Tim who were always better drivers and had faster boats when they came to the Miami Marine Stadium. Everybody else may as well have stayed on the trailer. saw a lot of other people from the boating industry that I know in passing and didn’t really get a chance to sit down and talk to because time was limited maybe next year. If I’m invited again, which is in itself a privilege best always Amberjack.
Well, it’s all over for another year—OFF finally closed its doors at a little after 9-00pm. Guess everyone is that little bit older and wiser —- and gets tired a little quicker.
What an amazing turnout . Over forty people each day . Every one of them a legend in their own right.
Christian Toll and Jeff Hall flew in from England especially for the “OFF” get together .
Everyone ,without exception , said that this was what they wanted —- just to sit down in a comfortable seat, swop tales ——move to the next group and chat with them. No hurry. No pressure .come and go as you please . Bring your memoirs ——read other folks memories. Lots of laughter —-reminiscing ,and a few tears . A wonderful two days —thanks to my son Mark——Grandson Craig—and Jessica his wife —-and of course CADDILAC!!!!!!!long may the OFF tradition continue . Last bastion of all old racers .

HERE WE ARE 24 hours later ,down in key west at the start of the DUVAL STREET PARADE OF BOATS !!!!!!!!!! Grass simply does not get time to grow under my feet !!!!!!!

SECOND DAY IN KEY WEST—- ate Mexican last night [killed my taste buds stone dead ]. Boats coming in every few minutes . Just had lunch on the quay. Lobster Tempura —- New England clam chowder —- coconut shrimp. Nice change from fish and chips !!!!!
Took a couple of orders for concepts — enough to keep me busy until next year.
Acolades still keep coming in over the OFF event —it truly was a memorable occasion .
Still have not managed to sell a single old fart a concept of any description { mean old bastards or what}
Weather a nice warm 25c — 78/80f down here in the Keys —— Aussies are here ?????????wonder if there’s anyone can touch them ????

see the UIM have three reps down here —— think the cost per boat is around $2,8000 per entry to fund their annual vacation —- has really pissed off a lot of the entries !!!!!!!!!
