Tricks that old racers get up to after retirement

Rained all day yesterday—- and all last night , and its pissing down at the minute with a promise of the same thing for the next ten days ??? So much for global warming!!!!!!!!!
if we are lucky ,temperatures should reach 20C— around 60F.

Did receive an invitation to visit MERCURY!!!!! Finally -well over fifty years since i raced for them i get an invite ????????
Hell of a lot of drivers got hurt real bad during the factory wars [DON CLARK—JIMBO MCCONNELL and the likes]. Just wonder if Mercury had the good grace to extend the invitation to Jimbo ???????
Which reminds me JIMBO— I HEREBY INVITE YOU AND KATHY TO THE 2023 “OFF” MEETING AT MY SON MARKS PLACE IN PALM SPRINGS .
OFF was never about Mercury —- only the players in the powerboat game .
Last time i sat down and talked with you and the rest of the OMC drivers was the “SHRIMP BAKE” of 1970, GG had warned us all about “fraternising with the enemy” !!!!! That was when PRUETT said ——-GARBRECHT DONT GET TO PICK MY FRIENDS.
Lot of water gone under the bridge since then plus the 53 years —- i bet RON HILL never thought he would be building a casino just down river [ok so its just a house — but he does have six bedrooms].
I digress as always —- but thats what i do —- did another 500 words for “THE BOOK” whilst i have had the poorly paw . Thought I might just finish it off but as usual with the best laid Plans Of mice and men. !!!!!!!!!

Did have enough savvy to put a pair of gloves on over the splint , worked reasonably well. Swelling has gone down 90% and pain is reduced to an ache.
Doing a COWES/TORQUAY EXPRESS WITH A PAIR OF STERNDRIVES. Why ??? I have no idea — was.the first thing that came into my head .
Shops still a mess but who gives a flying fart ??????
Blew up the Milwaukee charger unit and the hand held power drill —— no idea what went wrong but there was a hell of a bang and it blew the fuse and threw the switch . Drill stinks of termination.
No i don’t have the receipt so thats another couple of hundred down the pan.
Twas the Milwaukee-that broke my wrist [well almost]
Have the next few days to myself —-nobody’s coming to interrupt—should be able to get a wriggle on.

HAD A LONG TALK WITH GARY AND LOU YESTERDAY !!!!!!!
Asked him about the “ELECTRIC BOAT” HE and mark have been working on for over a year ???? Was told they had done the first “WET TEST” last week and it was all systems go.
Asked him what sort of speed he was hoping to get—- oh be disappointed if we didn't top a hundred !!
They fly up to Michigan on Friday for the race .
After the mess up at the Lake of the Ozarks looks like MILES JENNINGS has lost his ride in the X insurance ???????????
Maybe the APBA are not so strict about super licences anymore !!!!!!!!! Well there is a lot of dinero chucked around on the offshore circuit these days.
Be an interesting weekend up in Michigan thats for sure !!!!!!

SO WE HAVE A NEW PAIR OF JOCKEYS FOR “X INSURANCE” class 1. Boat this weekend ???????
i do hope both the stick man and the wheel man have up to date licences —-done the dunk test and satisfied the APBA scrutineers all is well ???????????????
You cannot simply jump into a class one boat without a super licence these days—— no matter how much money you have !!!!!!!! Unless of course you know people in high places ????

Seem to have FERNAGLED a fair amount of concepts since my 91st birthday, in spite of all the mishaps and ailments that have befallen me for one reason or another this year !!!!!!!
i do try and keep the arthritis at bay and the little grey cells working hard just so i can give a good account of myself these days. Sometimes i have been known to fail miserably, whilst there are times i share a modicum of satisfaction from my “FERNAGLINGS”.

Hells teeth FUJI i can get into it without really trying—-been like that all my life ——one day i will settle down and do a couple of “MIDNIGHT EXPRESS “ concepts —- take them down to key west simply because i know damn well they will be the first concepts to be sold. !!!!!!!!!!
Every boat concept i ever made has a semblance of a boat i have either seen or imagined and lets face it every boat ever made by any manufacturer anywhere , has a likeness to something that went before —- dating back to the Polynesians and the native Indians .
no one designer ever came up with an original idea ——- they may have come up with their take on an original but thats about. It. Why do i get the feeling there’s room for discussion here.?

Well, at a guess I’d say the old farts are one of three things —

Put out a request for any Old fart wanting to go round my grandsons race factory—[HUSKI} — have a couple of days at Marks place in November ——once again with free food, wine and beer and nary a single one of the old farts answered . No wonder Caddilac flat refuses to have anything to do with it anymore .
i even started another thread on scream and fly “OFF 2023”. Same thing on there too —100 or so had a cursory glance [like the old farts do] not a single reply .
