Here is one of Jay and me, Spring City 1990. This is the same race that Jon had his "little problem"
Jay Fisher and his Dad worked for OMC in engineering I think. Had access to some good OMC stuff. Could have been running a V-8 but Jay told me they liked the power to weight ratio of the V-6 for drags.

Blake Justice in "Lickity Split" in the late 70's at High Point NC. Yep, thats a V-6 on a kneeler. :eek:

There's some real history here, and if everyone can start sending me what you have and what you can remember, I can get to work on it. I'll talk with Larry Boyd and Don Russel about pics and race history. I have some of Larry's events, but haven't had time to visit long enough to write this stuff down.

wow this going to be a first for me
adding 100 more hp and 10 more gallons of fuel
i will change the fuel location to under the bow ahead of my feet

Mr. Jon Wright, if I decided to run unlimited outboard with my take apart pugh would I have to lock the motor and use a rudder?

Mr. Webb :D :D :D ,The only association that may have UO rules on the current books is the SLDBA. Most other associations used the same rules or close variations. Can't remember all of them but here is some for you to consider:
1. APBA or other ligit association approved capsue with 5/8 4130 steel reinforced canopy and at least 3/16 lexan windshield.
2. Canopy must have outside and inside emergency release pins.
3. Canopy must be "located" by no less than two 5/8 receiver pins and corresoonding steel receivers.
4. Locked down motor with steerable rudder of 7075 alum. construction at least 5/8 thick at the clam shell. No less than 3/16 SS aircraft approved steering cables.
5. On board air. Not sure but I think the tank was no less than 20 CUF at 2200 lbs air.
6. Association approved breathing mask with quick disconnect fettings.
7. Capsule training class.
8. 5 point SFI approved safety harness. Date of mfg must be "current"
There are more but these are the ones I remember.
