Or as I used to call it, the Between The Bridges race. Good times, used to go out to the spoil island off the end of the Biscayne Canal (104 st.- 105 st.) & watch 'em. That, & the start of many GCM's. First island with trees south of 125 st. bridge, west side of channel. Grew up on that canal, along with Brooke & Ronnie Russell, Ricky Lindheimer, Alan Revell, & Dr. Burns & his daughters - Robin & Cindy. They were my next door neighbors, ran a long deck 223 Formula #23 (pre T-Bird) with a pair of Holman Moody small blocks in a few offshore races. I think they were one of the few boats that finished the incredibly rough Bahamas 500 that the Miss Maritime turbine boat won. If you ever saw Robin & Cindy, you would remember them - esp.Robin :D
We (Mercury) bought those forgings, I forget from who, and then we machined them at Merc Plant 4. 100% magnafluxed before they left the buiding.http://i67.tinypic.com/2n6riom.jpg[/QUOTE]
Should have looked before I posted, Dr. Burns did not finish that race.
