Put yourself in Vision’s position…
-Battery technology is badly stalled out and not suitable for anything but the narrowest little niche uses. It’s not Vision’s fault. The finest researchers on the planet have been stuck on the same problem for the past 35 years.
-electric motors have been at 90%+ efficiency for a hundred years… not much room for improvement there either
So what is left for you, if you are in the business of hawking battery marine propulsion?
Patent trolling and penny stocks are about it. Unless solid state which has been "just one year away", since 2010, is for real this time. Might be some money to be had in patent trolling. Won’t be good for the spread of battery technology because the last thing you want when something is already cripplingly expensive is to make it yet even more expensive.
EDIT: In addition to all of the above, The curious observer might wonder if the reason Vision decided to sit out the LOTO shootout this year, had something to do with financials?

Looks like the same issues that have plagued solid state batteries for the past 200 years since they were invented, are still the main problems today.
According to radical right wing blogger, CNBC:
The solid-state batteries hype is fading – prompting auto giants to consider alternatives
https://www.cnbc.com/2024/10/16/the-race-for-next-gen-ev-batteries-may-soon-pivot-to-semi-solid-state.html
Translation: solid state batteries remain hyper expensive and hyper fragile just like they have been for 200 years.Quote:
Yet, despite growing hype over the potential rollout of solid-state batteries, analysts remain skeptical about when they will actually make it to market.
Semi-solid-state = A way to squeeze in the “solid state” buzzword to keep the hype alive, while using a technology that is NOT solid state.

"Hype is Fading" should be the new slogan for "green" energy... the only thing "green" is the money they piss away on these wet dreams!
