What boat is the 41 boat ? The 800 was a big step for Merc.....but a progrsson. Merc changed the fireing order. made the block longer, first non pullstart DR,First powerdome.First8splineD/S first Jetprop DR......other than the 700 which was a contun of the Mk 75/78 ......all to be replaced buy the 90 cid 1000......I payed $100 for one in 1969.....it was junk.....I payed $100 for one a year ago.... it was nice..... but a 20 incher. Call me a nut.... but I like old Mercs......

Yeah, well there's another shot of this jump from dead on from the stern with the 450's dangling and twirling in mid air still connected to their control cables and fuel lines and the driver has no clue that the transom has sheared in half! E.C. wasn't too happy with that foto. Bob Carver (lifelong boat race photographer)took that shot.Quote:
