Is London the new Swiss Account?
Russian wealth uses 86 UK banks, and 81 law firms to transition their wealth into British assets. And the political system is accommodating. Golden Visas for the Russians and Chinese helps transition them into the legitimate community.
In the 1980’s I witnessed the Japanese influx into Southern California buying and increasing property values. And the gulf Arabs contributed at onetime, doing the same also. And notwithstanding drug money’s influence in South Florida and other big cities inner communities.

Roy— it happened everywhere When Gorbachov went —-Russia emptied its jails and the criminals took over the countries wealth—- and i mean everything —-hundreds of billionaires overnight .
Clever bit was when they invested in the USA [every state]. Propped up failing economies in England-Australia—Canada and almost every other clash strapped country.
They weren’t the only ones —-Arab oil rich countries soon followed ——China and Japan did the same with their unending cash flow Anywhere that was expensive they all bought into.
In the seventies i remember going to the London boat show in EARLS COURT . Was where all the drop out Australians used to hang out in their thousands . Massive ten bedroom houses were on the market for £10/15,000 with no takers ——a semi detached house anywhere in any area of London was five to ten grand.today the same house starts at over a million up to ten million depending whether it has room for a deck chair in the garden.
Money in the civilised countries of the world has lost its true value —- gasoline at $10 a gallon and a Big Mac at $8—— no i am not kidding.
Golfers getting a thousand dollars a stroke for just showing up——footballers on half million a week for playing just one game———F1 drivers ??????? Lets not go down the road .
WHAT A MORNING !!!!!!!! Had a haircut and beardtrim —-then the three s‘s — i was in the shop, up and running before eight am. By lunch time i had put in four hours — just have an hours Power Nap before i enter the forage once more .
With the longer days and warmer weather i might get eight hours a day in on a regular basis .

Dont look like a lot —but believe me there‘s a shed load of effort gone into those two mothers .
Observing the construction of wooden race boats, at Renato’s Como shop, instilled in me an appreciation of wood workmanship and design.
Decades later back in the States, I have down 5 manufacturing tours of wooden-musical-instrument OEMs. And one thing that I (a novice) learned was how long these instrument builders cure their woods, before using the wood stock. Months and sometimes over a year(s) to cure the woods.
So Jackie, I have a slight understanding of your task of “foraging for some decent timber”.
Here are three of those shops which I have visited, not including Fender and PRS the other guitar facilities.

Bertie is one of those gifted kids that can play anything —-Piano—guitar . You should see him on the drums he is outstanding and awesome . His dad spent a lot of time teaching him. Watch out for him —he is 12 years old —name is ALBERT STUBBS. One of my fifteen great grandchildren.

Yesterday i came by an old flint built farmhouse —it stood empty for years -had a ten acre garden. Developers bought it an built dozens of half million pound houses on the land .
one of the conditions was , the cottage had to be renovated as it was originally with a thatched roof.
Sorry ‚bout that, was called for breakfast.
anyway as i was saying— when i was on the building and we had a request to replace a thatched roof , we used to call a thatcher in NORFOLK —he would load up his flatbed with rushes and make the five hour journey down to sussex. Was always in the summer —- i would strip down to the waist -just a pair of shorts and PUMPS.[Trainers]. Needed to get some sun tan this was the way to do it .
I looked at the thatcher on the nicely laid out scaffolding that surrounded the cottage and smiled to myself. He had on a yellow hard hat ——protective eye glasses—- yellow jacket ——hard boots .
ok so there’s safety — and there‘s blanket wrapped .
scaffolding would cost more than a long ladder ———- you cant dance around the site dressed like a feckin alien from outer heralditis ——— job would have taken a week and cost around £250 .
Scaffolding has been up for ten weeks ———thatcher has been there three weeks —- cost is humongous and there is not an ounce of FUN doing the job ——-that cottage would have fetched maybe six hundred with the new roof ——- today its up for £750,000 with a postage stamp garden surrounded by hundreds of other dwellings ????????? This is progress !!!!!!
