That worked well nearly 70 years ago Roy--
I was driving Engine 1 on the narrow streets of downtown Miami--
The steering wheel was over three feet in diameter--
Six full turns---'Lock to Lock--

Fujimo-
You are thinking of our good friend -Jim
Jim was young--smart--ambitious and quickly soldiered up the ranks to become a BATTALION
CHIEF on the Dade County Fire Department!!!!
I was never that smart--I spent my entire career DOWNTOWN
Closest I got was 'Chief's Driver'---probably the best job in the WORLD!!

Gene „“LIGHTNING“ LANGHAM . Now thats where the similarities end I’m afraid.
Jackie „“JINX“ WILSON was my teenage nickname !
Dont remember ever being called Jinx after i left Bradford in my late teens, the name did not travel south with me . I know damn well there isn't a commemorative plaque anywhere in the world celebrating my nickname either.
...gene "lightning" lanham. what came first, the lightning bolt on the boat, or the nickname?...https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.ZlpOwk...id=ImgDet&rs=1
Where Jackie might have wanted to drive a fire truck like you, my desire was elsewhere.
I still to this day would like to drive an ambulance as fast as I can, on city streets towards the needed destination.
Driving fast and smooth, with the siren blaring when needed.
FINALLY GOT A DAYS WORK IN YESTERDAY—WILL SHOW YOU SOME SORT OF RESULT LATER IN THE WEEK . Couple of interesting concepts coming together .
Did the usual car boot forage —then the scrapyard .. honest to murgatroyd, there’s better gear at the scrapyard than there is at the car boot these days . Sold a shed load of brass and copper yesterday to a family of Hungarians .. statement has absolutely nothing to do with anything, except i shifted every Bit of brass i accumulated over the last seventy years .[ and for daft money].
Cleared A HELL OF A LOT OF ROOM shifting the copper and brass. Have two worktops free and clear. Just the streetlamp which is all done and dusted and ready for collection.
Roll on easter ——
...this one wouldn't be so bad in a tunnel boat either...https://www.screamandfly.com/attachm...7&d=1649664771
