Shop now shut for three days------crack-o-sparrow tomorrow we're catching the cross channel ferry to Dieppe------that's providing the dopey French dockers haven't set fire to the port.
France has run out of gasoline but we have enough for 350 miles------we should have more than enough unless we have to run up to Ostend to escape the contrary bugger's.

Trusty Lexus ensconced in the "Grand Pavoir" parking lot- at Fecamp,------filled up with gas at the local super market. No sign of a strike-------the whole of France stops for Sunday lunch anyway-----that is sacrescant!
Amazing place----a would like to be an Honfleur but with a bigger harbour and more eating houses !
Super modern up to date hotel--------you don't get many of those in France I can tell you!

Met up with Tiny and Leo last night, had a couple of very large G & T's and sallied forth to find a suitable diner------right next door to the hotel, was a small, scruffy, family owned restaurant (Le Marine), who served up a mind blowing "FRUITES DE MARE" plateau---------four courses and two bottles of wine later, (after the Benedictine ice cream) we staggered the ten metres back to the hotel, well and truly sated------all for 30 Euros a head. Can't be bad can it ?
They have Condor sized seagulls here that drop Condor sized crap everywhere and have a raucous squark that sounds like the death throes of a dingo------name of the game is "Dodge the dingo droppings"
Off to the Benedictine monastery to try out their local distillation----then the snail farm------don't even ask why in the name of Jesus I would do that----hand on heart----I have no idea!
Weathers been good up to now-----not quite tee shirts only stuff------add a cashmere and it's comfortable!
Heavy rain forecast for tomorrow------still it's only May----and this is Normandy, France, you couldn't hope for more.
If I can catch a condor on the Kodak, complete with squark---I'll post it.

Well, we finally made it back home to "Blighty"!
Found out the reason it rains so hard in Fecamp------its to wash all the seagull Sh-t away from the cars and buildings--------and boy did it rain all day yesterday!
Heard stories of the French strikers blocking the bridges at Rouen --------making motorists use minor roads and farm tracks to reach the various ports. As I said before, buggers don't want to work and don't like those that do.
Was an uncomfortable crossing last night, the boat is getting on in years and is all a bit "tired"-------first time in twenty years I was "seasick"-----glad to get home to a good nights sleep in a comfy bed.
Shop opens up again today, be glad to fire up the machines again------first job is to put a new blade in the bandsaw-----------doing the final REDBIRD out of a solid biller------for sale at the auction in Tavares in November, (if anybody's interested).
Almost forgot, 1st June and I have to empty out the pool and get the Karcher working overtime.
Afraid it looks more like a cesspool than a swimming pool at the moment---------still, with a bit of "JACKIELAD" TLC 'twill look a whole lot different by the weekend.

The picture of the Vieser boat is not the motor I was talking about in the PM. This boat/ motor I owed a few years ago and the world speedrecord in 1978 with this combo was 211,347 Km/hour I bought the boat from the doughter of Walther Vieser after his passing. The certificate and trophy came with the boat.

I like to explain how i jumped into this thread. I am a collector of vintage wooden boats and vintage Mercury outboards. I know nothing about the technical part of the motors just like them for the design and the sound of the early in line six`s. I don`t want motors just as display pieces. I have them restored by a friend and try to use them all on few of my boats. Recently i purchased a Merc 1500 and a weird looking { to me } power head, a hood and lower pan that seemed to be an early race motor. Through the fiberglassics forum i was informed that the powerhead might probably be a C6 1350 based block with 6 Morgan carbs. While searching on google i found some postings of "willabee" and i contacted Bill yesterday. For some reason i can not upload a picture in a message as the system is asking for an URL. I would sent pictures of the block and hood to mr Bill when i noticed his posting on page 275. Without text in the quick reply field i could upload a picture and that was of the Vieser boat that i once owned. My contact was concerning the power head as it also once belonged to Walter Vieser. I enclose a list of his records but know not much about Vieser or the racing history as I was not born when he had his first world record.

Wow, never thought I'd see one of those again! You bought yourself a C6, that's for sure. I'd sure like to know if there is a serial number stamped into the block or the crankcase cover on the distributor side at the top.
I had been searching for a serial number but i could not find one stamped in the block like for example at the place the number is stamped on a 1350 block. I found a plastic strap that connect a lead from the ignition to a bolt in the exhoust cover. On the { yellowed} strap is a number " M or N ? 325281-7. I can take the motor outside, clean it a bit and search again for a number. What I know about Walter Vieser is that he drove with a big Van to Mercury in Belgium and bought up to 50 blocks for racing purposes. Recently 2 brand new 650XS or 700X blocks were found that belonged to Vieser and both have no serial numbers.

I cleaned some places of the motor and found a few numbers { stamped } On the carburater intake manifold { if it is called so ? } is the number F 15. On top of the motor , a flat part close top the flywheel is the number : B.3871040.T Also there is a kind of "starr" with number 2 in it , a circle with number 1 and a square with number 2. Hope this is useful information.
