I was there for the second run and the sound that Yamaha makes is incredible. It was something to see glad I was there and congrats Chris.

Theres video on FB high performance boating but I have to get it on youtube to post it here. Funny I never get to hear the boat from the drivers seat.

Video of the second pass also at 101 mph

I have wedges which I believe add about 2" plus the jackplate which adds 1.5".
I may replace all that with the Bobs convertible jackplate that adds about the same and you can add wedge with it.
The Bobs has built in wedge if you want.

Have people asking me whats next.
The boat is fast enough. 100 mph was my goal and I dont need to go faster.
I would like to try some things to see how they effect performance. I have a different exhaust plate I want to try to see if I gain some low/mid without losing on top. Ive also knocked around the idea of a fuel injection project. Again not to go faster but maybe get their quicker and just as a fun project.
I have to admit its a little weird not having a top speed goal after having for a few years.
Mr D, congratulations on reaching your goal.
I'd like to say thank you for the information and discussion that this thread has produced it has been most invaluable to me.
I look forward to seeing what you do next.
Cheers
Jason
If I came across something cool like a V6 220 Special powerhead it might be fun to drop it on see how it ran. I think I would get addicted to the acceleration.
All I have to say to that what are you waiting for?
There's heaps of EXCEL parts still available in the USA and Canada. :)
My bitza motor came to life as soon as I installed the computer controlled ignition on it. Next rebuild for that one is 6 x New Excel sleeves, as its just not packing the same punch as the true Excels.
However with what you have accomplished you could assemble a sweet 6G5 block and really get it humming nicely. It would be an interesting comparison the extra HP vs Weight on your boat.
Like you said fast acceleration but perhaps greater top speed with bigger prop.
The Special is just unique. I really dont know much about the V6's though.
Honestly the one with the best low end / midrange would probably be best. It would be capable of top speed faster than I would want to go so I would just go for acceleration and prop if for 90 mph.
