Okay, maybe somebody can help me out here, I swear in this thread, somewhere in the 1000+ pages, that I saw a gearcase prototyped in the 1950s by Mercury that had a FORWARD facing propeller, like the newer volvo penta outdrives. Am I dreaming? Can anybody link me to that image? I swear mercury tried this already in the 50s....
Merc never made a "tractor" unit, but others did. Its not here because its not a Merc product. There are pictures on other threadsQuote:

Although it does 'tab' into the top cowl, those face plates did not attach to the bottom. There is a knob that is slightly visible in the picture at the bottom of the face plate that pushed in at 9 or 3 o'clock and locked at 12 o'clock. I had a 1968 100hp that had that face plate and I remember it well.Quote:
